What is it for?
Mimpara 30, 60 and 90 mg is indicated for the treatment of diseases caused by problems in the parathyroid glands, helping to control the serum levels of parathyroid hormone, calcium and phosphorus in the body, in adults.
Dosage
How to use?
Generally, the recommended starting dose is 1 tablet of Mimpara 30 mg, 1 to 2 times a day, as directed by your doctor. The doses to use of Mimpara must be indicated by your doctor, as they depend on the severity of the problem to be treated and the individual response of each patient to the treatment.
Mimpara tablets should be swallowed whole, without breaking or chewing, together with a glass of water and during or shortly after meals.
Side effects
What harm can it cause me?
Some of the side effects of Mimpara may include nausea, vomiting, dizziness, tingling or prickling sensations, loss or decrease in appetite, muscle pain, general weakness, hives on the skin, reduced testosterone levels, high blood potassium levels, allergic reaction with swelling of the face, eyes, tongue or throat, redness, itching or difficulty breathing, headache
seizures, low blood pressure, upper respiratory tract infection, difficulty breathing, coughing,
poor digestion, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, constipation constipation, muscle spasms, back pain or low blood calcium levels.
Contraindications
When should I not use it?
Mimpara is contraindicated for patients allergic to Cinacalcet or other components of the formula.
Mechanism of action
How it works?
Mimpara is a medicine that has in its composition Cinacalcet, a substance that mimics the function of calcium in the body, and that is why it is able to bind to receptors in the parathyroid gland. In this way, Mimpara reduces the production of parathyroid hormone, which, when found in low concentration in the body, leads to the elimination of calcium by the kidneys. In this way, there is a reduction in the levels of circulating calcium in the blood.
Warnings and Precautions
What should I know before using?
Before using Mimpara, you should speak to your doctor if you are pregnant, intending to become pregnant or breastfeeding, are under 18 years of age, have a history of seizures, liver problems, heart disease or problems, have low blood calcium levels , are taking medicines that cause heart rhythm problems, have an intolerance to some sugars or are taking other medicines, including medicines obtained without a prescription.
During treatment with Mimpara, if you stop smoking or if you experience symptoms such as an abnormally fast or fast heartbeat, you should consult your doctor.
Treatment with Mimpara should never be stopped without your doctor’s knowledge and the schedules, doses and duration of treatment must be strictly adhered to.

What to do if someone uses a larger amount than indicated?
In case of excessive use of Mimpara, you should go to the nearest hospital, taking the medicine package or leaflet. Some of the more common effects you may experience after taking too much Mimpara may include tingling around the mouth, muscle pain or cramps and seizures.

(Excipients: pregelatinized corn starch, microcrystalline cellulose, povidone, crospovidone, magnesium stearate, colloidal anhydrous silica, carnauba wax, green opadry containing lactose monohydrate, hypromellose, titanium dioxide (E171), glycerol triacetate, indigotine (E132) and yellow iron oxide (E172) and clear opadry containing hypromellose and macrogol).
Drug interactions
Mimpara should not be given together with certain medicines or substances without medical advice, such as medicines used to treat skin and fungal infections such as ketoconazole, itraconazole or voriconazole, medicines used to treat bacterial infections such as telithromycin, rifampicin or ciprofloxacin, ritonavir, fluvoxamine, medicines used to treat depression such as amitriptyline, desipramine, nortriptyline or clomipramine, medicines used to treat arrhythmias such as flecainide or propafenone or together with medicines used to treat high blood pressure such as metoprolol.
What should I do when I forget to use this medicine?
If you miss a dose of Mimpara, you should skip the missed dose, and only take the dose at the next time. Mimpara doses should never be administered twice or at very close intervals.
