Biographical synthesis
He was born in 1947 in Cuba .
Studies
He studied for a degree in Art History at the University of Havana , later obtaining the degree of Doctor of Arts.
He has dedicated himself to the study and research of Cuban art, and in particular its architecture , a subject on which he has published several books that are part of the bibliography of the art history specialty in Cuban higher education centers.
Trajectory
He created the Wifredo Lam Contemporary Art Center, an institution in charge of the study and dissemination of third world art and founded the Havana Biennial and worked on its organization until its sixth edition in 1997 .
She is a member of the Union of Writers and Artists of Cuba , of the International Association of Art Critics (and president of its Cuban chapter), correspondent of the National Academy of Fine Arts of Argentina and artistic director and editor of the magazine Art On Cuba . He has participated in numerous conferences and has been part of international juries, such as that of the 51st Venice Biennale in 2005 .
To her work as a Cuban art researcher, she has added studies on contemporary art, in particular the most recent expressions that have taken place in Latin America , Africa and Asia . Together with his investigative work, he held various responsibilities in the university and cultural sphere for whose contributions he received the Medal for Cuban Culture .
He has worked as a teacher at the School of Arts and Letters of the University of Havana and held scientific management responsibilities at the Higher Institute of Art of Cuba. She is one of the most ancestral curators in recent times; at the same time as the author of valuable texts.
He is part of the Animation Jury of the XL International Festival of New Latin American Cinema in Havana .
