How To Turn Off Screen Timeout On Macbook

How To Turn Off Screen Timeout On Macbook. To turn off the screen timeout on a MacBook, you can adjust the Energy Saver settings to prevent the display from going to sleep or dimming after a period of inactivity. Follow these steps to do so:

How To Turn Off Screen Timeout On Macbook

  1. Click on the Apple menu () in the top-left corner of your screen.
  2. Select “System Preferences” from the dropdown menu.
  3. In the System Preferences window, click on “Energy Saver.”
  4. You will see two tabs: “Battery” and “Power Adapter.” Make sure to adjust the settings for both if you want to prevent screen timeout on both battery and when connected to power.
  5. On each tab, you’ll see a slider labeled “Turn display off after.” Move the slider all the way to the right (“Never”) to prevent the display from going to sleep.
  6. Additionally, there might be a checkbox or option related to “Put hard disks to sleep when possible.” You can uncheck this if you want to ensure that only the display stays awake.
  7. Once you’ve made the desired changes, close the Energy Saver preferences window.

Please note that preventing the screen from timing out can lead to increased power consumption and potentially affect battery life. Make sure to balance your preferences with the need to conserve energy.

Keep in mind that these instructions are based on the macOS interface as of my last knowledge update in September 2021. If there have been any changes to the interface or settings since then, the steps might vary slightly.
