Apex Legends has suddenly become a popular battle royale game. Warzone has begun to die out and Fortnite has had a quick surge without a build mode, but the real action takes place in Apex.
If you find yourself particularly good at Apex Legends, you might want to start streaming on Twitch or Youtube. In this guide, we will show you how to stream Apex Legends on Twitch or Youtube using Streamlabs.
Install Streamlabs
We are going to use the Free Streamlabs software to stream to the streaming platform of your choice. You can download and install Streamlabs here.
Once you have installed the software, you can follow the steps below.
Scene creation
The first thing you need to do is set up your Apex Legends stream scene. Scenes are a great way to organize your streaming experience. You can also easily switch scenes while streaming.
You’ll need at least one Apex Legends streaming scene, so let’s get started creating one.
- Open the Streamlabs desktop app on your computer. When your Streamlabs application is open, you will see the main Streamlabs Desktop page.

- Enter the name of your Apex Legends scene. Feel free to enter any name, preferably one that implies its functionality and is easy to identify afterwards. When done, click Done .
Adding Apex Legends via Game Capture
Once you have your scene (display layout) ready, you will need to add whatever you want to stream while playing Apex Legends. These include the actual game you will be playing and any additional sources you may need, such as a webcam, stream overlay, or an external microphone .
Here’s how to add an Apex Legends game using game capture.
- Go to the Sources window at the bottom middle of the Streamlabs app and click on the “+” icon at the top left of the window.
- In the Shared Sources section, select Game Capture and click Add Source .
- Then, rename the game capture source to a name that will be easy to identify later on, and click Add Source . After that, you will see the Game Capture Settings window on your screen.
- To install the Apex Legends game capture, click the drop-down menu next to the mode. Make sure your Apex Legends is open. You can choose from three options.
- When done, click Close . You should now see the Apex Legends game entry added to the top of the Streamlabs app.
With this setup, you can start your live game, which should now stream to Streamlabs without issue. If you wish, you can customize your display however you see fit. Some customization options include adding a webcam, overlay, microphone, or moving and resizing the displayed Streamlabs scenes. All of these options are up to you.
How to add a webcam to Streamlabs for Apex Legends

- Return to the Sources window and click on the “+” icon in the top left corner. Then select “Video Capture Device” and click ” Add Source “.
- You can customize the webcam settings as you wish. I recommend using the camera’s default resolution and then reducing it to fit your scene.
- You should now see the webcam image over the Apex Legends client screen. Feel free to resize or move the webcam image as you wish.
How to add an overlay to Streamlabs
Adding an overlay to your stream on Streamlabs is a great way to add flair and personality! Overlays will help you keep track of the latest events while streaming, such as new subscriber updates, viewer chats, and donations from your viewers. There are several different ways to do this, but I’ll show you the easiest one.

How to add a microphone to Streamlabs
Now everything is set. All you have to do is add an input audio source and start streaming.
If you have an external microphone, here’s how to add it to Streamlabs.
- In the Streamlabs app, go to the Sources section and click on the plus sign in the top right corner of the window.
- Then select “Audio Input Capture ” and click ” Add Source “.
- Since this is a new source, don’t forget to toggle the ” Add a new source instead ” button and enter the sound or microphone name you prefer to use. Then click ” Add Source “.
- Finally, select the microphone you want to use for streaming and close the Advanced Audio Settings window. You should now see the added microphone in the Mixer window at the bottom right of the screen.
How to fix Streamlabs black screen while streaming Apex Legends?
A black screen is when the audience can’t see your game. The name is derived from the giant black box that appears in place of where your streaming display should be.

Activate Eyeball on your springs
The easiest quick fix for this problem is to confirm that the eyeball icon is activated on your display sources. It can be found in the Sources window of your Streamlabs app to the right of all your individual sources. Make sure each of the sources you want to display in your stream has an eye icon activated.
If that doesn’t work, you can try the following additional technical fixes.
Run Streamlabs as Administrator
First of all, make sure you open the Streamlabs app as an administrator. This setting ensures that you have the highest privileges and access rights to your computer’s settings. Here’s how to do it.
- First, navigate to where your Streamlabs app is located on your computer. Then right – click the Streamlabs application and select ” Properties ” . At the top of the Properties window, select the Compatibility tab and scroll down to Settings.
- Be sure to check the “Run this program as an administrator” box . After that, click ” Apply “, Then click ” OK » .
- Once completed, restart the Streamlabs app.
Uncheck Use GPU as renderer
Another issue could be a GPU setting that is interfering with displaying your sources. To make sure this issue is ruled out:
- Open the Streamlabs app and navigate to the settings icon at the bottom left of the screen.
- The settings window will appear on the screen . Now go to the left menu and click ” Advanced ” . Then scroll down to the Video section and uncheck “Use GPU as render device”.
- Continue scrolling down and click Done .
- Once completed, restart the Streamlabs app.
