How To Sharpen Tweezers

How To Sharpen Tweezers.Aren’t eyebrow tweezers as foolproof as they used to be? Here you will find how to use them again as if they were new!Plucking the eyebrows , although it is no longer absolutely necessary as in the past because today many people like them thick and free, it is still a fundamental habit for many women. Tweezers remain the most widely used method of hair removal, but they require patience and perfect tweezers.

Can’t completely remove all your unwanted body hair? This is an article we will teach you how to sharpen tweezers easily and simply.

Note: These are instructions for sharpening the tweezers you buy at the drug store to use on your body. Pliers for model making and detail work often require a different, sharper, and narrower point than this method will provide.

How To Sharpen Tweezers Correctly

Step 1: Materials

To sharpen the tweezers you will need:

  • blunt forceps
  • Coarse grit sandpaper (150 grit)
  • Fine sandpaper (400 and/or 800 grit)
  • A thin, flat piece of metal or glass
  • A small amount of water

Step 2: Prepare the pencil sharpener

  • Wrap the sandpaper around your smooth, thin piece of material. You want just one coat over the backing material, don’t wrap the sandpaper more than once.
  • Sandpaper covered glass is typically used to put an edge on a metal surface because glass is typically very smooth and very flat. I used a very thin sheet of aluminum here because it’s almost as flat and smooth as glass, and it’s thinner than the glass I had laying around.
  • You want to choose something thin to hold the sandpaper on because that will allow you to have the tweezers in the correct position while you sharpen them.

Step 3: Sand with the rough grit paper

  • With the rough sandpaper wrapped around the backing material, take your tweezers and “grip” the sandpaper. While applying pressure to the tweezers, move them up and down on the sandpaper. This will remove any serious irregularities in the tips so you can move on to finer sanding and sharpening in the next step.
  • If your tweezers aren’t in too bad shape, you can skip this step and go straight to fine sharpening.

Step 4: Fine and Sharp Sanding

  • I like to use a wet/dry sandpaper while sharpening objects.
  • Soak your fine sandpaper in a bit of water and then wrap it around your backing material like you did the coarser grit paper. Again, “grab” the sandpaper with the tweezers and apply pressure. Now, just like you did with the rough grit, move the tweezers in an up and down motion over the sandpaper.
  • You are trying to flatten the edge of the tweezers tip, so try to apply pressure to the last millimeter of the tweezers.
  • You will quickly prepare a suspension – a mixture of metal and water – this will help in the sharpening process, so do not wash it.
  • Make a few more passes with the pliers once you get some mud and you’ve probably sharpened it enough.

Step 5: Sand the End of the Clips

  • The last step is to sand the ends of the pliers tips.
  • Squeeze the two tips together and place them on the fine sandpaper so that the angle on the pliers meets the sandpaper the full length of the tip. (Basically pretend you’re standing with the tweezers flat on your edge on top of the sandpaper.)
  • Then carefully drag the tweezers across the sandpaper keeping the same angle.
  • It will only take a few hits back and forth, unless your plier tips are really bad.

Step 6: Enjoy your tool again

    • All ready to use again
  • Try it by pulling something and see the improvement.
  • If it’s not to your liking, just go back and make a fine adjustment on the fine sandpaper.
