Strava collects data from all app users, especially those who make their route information public. This means that most of the popular trails and global heat maps come from direct data from other runners and cyclists. Therefore, you can find uses for these elements in various places on the page and improve the characteristics of your routes. Here are some of the most outstanding features of Strava:

  • Global Heat Map: Allows you to edit the Garmin map on the left side of the screen in the plan view options (gear icon). This will show you which areas of the app users move around the most. Red corresponds to high frequencies and blue to low frequencies.

  • Using Popularity: The best way to make sure you don’t run into any roadblocksor dead ends is to use this feature. It will draw a line following the most popular route, based on data from other users. You can change it at the top of the screen.
  • Minimum Profit: In addition to using popularity, you often change this minimum profit option. In this case, the application will show you the best route available to spend your longest time as a cyclist and compete with other users.
