First, you need to unlock the enchantment lectern on the moon (near Eris). This is done by progressing through the Shadowkeep story. It is a must whenever you play until the moment you unlock it.
You will need essences that can be purchased from the pulpit using Phantasmal Cores. Ghost Cores can be purchased using 20 Ghost Shards that can be obtained by completing Lectern Contracts and killing Nightmare enemies. Nightmare Hunts also have a chance to drop the Essence it shares a name with, allowing you to bypass Core Grind with a bit of luck.
Additionally, the weekly pulpit rewards will also give you additional cores if you are ready to complete them.
Once you’ve received an Essence, you simply need to meet the requirements to complete it, which vary from weapon to weapon, but typically involves killing items with the correct weapon type. Easy peasy.
Once you have completed the Essence quest, you will be ready and you will receive your weapon and launch. Note that updated Destiny 2 Moon weapons, such as Tranquility, now have new reels.
