How to Make or Create a Bar Code in Excel Step by Step

You may think that it is a difficult task to do, but no; I guarantee that barcodes can be created very quickly and easily. By simply applying a formula, you can automatically generate a barcode in Excel . And you can at any time modify or edit it.

Remember that this spreadsheet allows you to perform very complex tasks such as pivot tables, calculate the mode, mean and median, insert images, etc. And you also thought before, that they were impossible to do on a spreadsheet. For this reason we want to teach you now how to make or create a barcode in Excel step by step.

How to make or create a barcode in Excel

Before starting, I want you to know that although it seems complex to do it, it is really very simple. And it is a bit like creating QR codes in Word , you just have to apply the steps that we are going to explain below. The first thing you should know is that the barcodes that we are going to use are a type of font. As would the different letters such as: Arial, tahoma, etc.

These sources, which are forms of barcodes and represent a numeric or alpha numeric number not in Excel, for that reason we will download. For this we will use the following address for the download . Having it, they must extract as it is in a compressed folder.

When you extract a file with this name code 128.ttf appears , you must copy it and then you must go to My Computer, then to the drive where your operating system is. When you open a series of folders appear, you must look for the one named Windows. You double clip and then you will find the folder called Fonts.

We double in this folder and all the fonts that are on your computer will appear. What you are going to do next is paste the file that you copied earlier and that contains the barcodes . It will be installed on your computer and you will have access to this font, not only when you use Excel, but also with Word, Power Point and the notepad.

Bar code application

Next, you go to Excel and open a new spreadsheet, being in your sheet you can write in a cell any number series of three, four, six, digits, whatever you want. Then you go to Sources and you are going to look for code 128 . When you find it, you will press the Enter key on your keyboard and automatically your numerical figure will change to a barcode.

If you want to do this with a series of numbers, you only have to place in a column Numbers and in another column Bar Code , in the column of numbers you are going to write a series of 10 numbers containing 6 digits. You are going to copy these numbers, placing the mouse pointer in the upper cell and without releasing drag to the last cell that contains numerical figures.

When all the cells that contain numerical figures are shaded, the copies and you are going to paste them in the bar code column . That is, there will be a figure with its copy next to it, then you select the entire column of bar code and when they are shaded, you will go to Sources and you will search for code 128, press Enter and all the figures will change to code of bar.

And as you can see, you have learned very easily how to create a barcode in Excel step by step. Without complications and adding a folder of fonts that you can use with any other application on your personal computer
