Knowing where there is a gas station is really useful if you are going to travel or if you are in a city that is not yours. It is advisable to always have them on hand whether you are on the road or in the city and you do not see anything around you that can be used to refuel. In those cases, luckily, you can search for gas stations on Google Maps and it also allows you to see the price of gasoline and compare it in all of them.
Whether you want to compare prices before leaving home or if you are in unfamiliar territory, you can search for gas stations on Google Maps and find the prices of each of them, by brand, by type of fuel, etc.
Find gas stations
The Google maps app allows us, among many other options, to search for gas stations near us. So we can quickly find where to refuel if we are traveling and if we do not know where we can go or which is the closest and recommended. We have several options and we can choose to search for all those that are close to us but Google Maps also allows us to search by specific brand, order by price, etc.
The first thing you will have to do is download the Google Maps app on your Android or iOS mobile phone if you don’t already have it. For now, the function is not available for the version of Google Maps for the computer browser, so we will have no choice but to download the app. Once it’s done, open it up and go to the search bar at the top of the screen.
You will have the option to write what you want (as we will see later) but Google already incorporates, in itself, a button to see “Gas stations”. Tap on this button under the search bar and all the gas stations that fit on the screen will appear. You have two options: the first is to settle for this map view and tap on the different icons on the screen to know where they are, when they open, etc. But you can also see a list with the streets and even sort them by distance.
At the bottom right, mark the “list” option by clicking on the corresponding button. Once you have it, a list with all the gas stations near you will open on your mobile screen in a list format. At the bottom, you can mark the filter “open now” and it will show you only the ones you can go to at that time.
Search by company or brand
It may be that you need to go to a specific gas station because you have the card of that company in question. That you only go to Repsol, BP, Cepsa, Total gas stations … Good because you want to accumulate points, because they have your data for the invoice or whatever the reason you have. Luckily, Google also helps us find gas stations only for a specific company , although the steps vary slightly from the previous instructions:
Open the Google Maps application and in the search bar start typing “gas stations” but without pressing enter or the magnifying glass button. At least for now. Once you have written the word, you will see a series of options appear on the list: Repsol, cepsa, bp, total, alcampo gas station … Choose the one you want. Only the corresponding service stations will appear on the map . You can mark the option “list” (as in the previous step) and you can see them all. At the top of the screen you can choose to sort them by relevance or by distance from you, if you have activated the mobile phone location.
See gasoline price
Google Maps already shows the price of gasoline through its mobile application. That allows us? Basically we can have an idea of how much gasoline is worth in each of the stations that we have nearby, in case this helps us to choose between one or the other. If both are at the same distance, it will be very useful to know in real time which one will be cheaper to refill the deposit. It is fast, it is easy and you do not have to install any additional application on the mobile phone but it is integrated into the app that we already had installed.
We have two options to see the price of gasoline: do it at a specific gas station that interests us or consult it globally, in all of them, at a glance.
From a specific gas station
To see the price of a specific gas station we will only have to touch on it if we know how to locate it on the map. Imagine that you are in your car, in a service station and there are two nearby gas stations. Or that your home or office is right between two different fuel stations. Just tap on them in Google Maps, without looking for anything else, and the information will appear in the lower box.
The first thing that will appear in Google Maps is, at the bottom, the price of 95 unleaded gasoline , as you can see in the following screenshot. The one that appears by default in Google Maps is this, SP95. We cannot change it, at least for now, and it is the one that will always appear first and foremost.
But it is not the only option we have to know how much gasoline is worth, it is enough to scroll the information box up to have all the details. Here we will find the typical buttons: How to get there, call, save and share site. Just below the usual buttons, we will find the price.
Three gasoline prices will appear :
- Unleaded 95
- Unleaded 98
- Diesel oil
Each of the three categories will be accompanied by the price in real time or at that time at that gas station. To see it in others, repeat the process and compare.
List of gas stations and their prices
As we have explained in previous paragraphs, you can search for the price of all the gas stations near you. You simply have to open Google Maps and go to the application’s search bar that indicates “Search here”. Type ” gas station ” here and Google will automatically search for all those that appear nearby. Once you’ve seen the results, tap on the button in the lower right corner with list formatting. This will show all the nearby gas stations and the price of gasoline in real time, at that moment. As in the previous case, you will only be able to see the price of Sin Plomo 95 in the thumbnail and you will have to open the complete file to see the rest of the prices at that moment but you will have all of them at hand to compare.
You can use the trick from the previous step to search for gas stations by brand or by company and look at the gas prices at each of them. It is one more function that is added to the many that Google Maps already allows us, such as finding parking, knowing how many people are in a store at a specific time, checking traffic or discovering the prices of the cinema or a theater or museum
