How to permanently block ads in Skype?

Just follow the steps below to block annoying ads on Skype easily–

1. Open the control panel.

First, go to the control panel through “My Computer”.

2. Category browsing mode

After logging into the control panel, click “Network and Internet” in Category View.

3. Click Network and Sharing Center.

Then click Network and Sharing Center.

4. Click Internet Options.
   

After clicking on the Network and Sharing Center, a new page will open. Click on Internet Options which you will find on the left.

5. Click the “Security” tab.

Then a new dialog box will appear in front of you and then click the Security tab.

6. Click Sites.

After clicking on the security bar, click on “Restricted Sites” and then click on “Sites”.

7. Enter https://apps.skype.com and click Add.

After clicking on the site button, simply enter https://apps.skype.com in the field and click the “Add” button.

8. Click the Close button.

After clicking the add button, you will see the Skype URL added in the box below.

Then click the close button and then click OK. After that, you need to “restart” your Skype for the changes to take effect for the ads. After saving the settings, you will not see ads on the Skype home screen.

If you’ve just updated your Skype, you may need to take extra steps to completely block ads on your Skype.

Because when you update the Skype app, your app is updated to its new program. So, in order to do this, you need to follow some additional steps, which are shown in “Method 2”.

Remove placeholder Skype Ads in latest version

If the method described above does not work, this will definitely help you. Just follow the instructions one by one to solve your ad problem –

1. Go to the Help menu.

First, make sure your Skype app has the latest version. To check, you must go to the Help menu and then click Check for Updates. If you have the latest version of Skype installed, you will see a message like “You already have the latest version of Skype installed.”

2. Select “Show hidden files, folders or drives” in the “View” section.

Go to the “My Computer” window and click the “Organize” button that appears at the top left. Then click Folder Options. Then a new window will appear, just click “View”. Then check “Show hidden files, folders or drives”. Then just click OK to save your settings.

3. Edit the config.XML file.

After saving this setting, you need to go to “My Computer” and log in to drive C. Then click on Users. Here you will find your username, just click on it and then click on App Data. Then click “Roaming” and here you will find Skype, just click on it.

By clicking on Skype, you will see your Skype username and then click on it. Here you will see the “config.XML” file.

Right-click it and select the Edit option. Here it will open in a new window.

Then press Ctrl+F and type in <AdvertPlaceholder> to find that line and click Find Next then delete the whole line. Then press the cancel button to save the settings.

TIPS: Follow this path and you will easily find it – C:users [your username] App DataRoamingSkype [your Skype username].

4. Mark Read Only

Then right-click “Config.xml”, select “Properties” and check “Read Only”. Then click OK to save all settings.

5. Restart Skype.

Then restart Skype and now you can chat and make video calls without banner ads in Skype. Here is how you can do it. Hope you get the idea!

How to update your Skype?

If you want to update your Skype, you can easily do so by following a few simple steps. Just follow these steps:

1. Click Help. Just click the Help menu that appears at the top of Skype.
   

2. Click Check for Updates.

After clicking on the “Help” menu, you will find “Check for Updates”. Then click on it.

Note. After clicking here, your Skype application will receive updates automatically, you don’t have to do anything else, and you can enjoy the latest versions of Skype without ads and to the fullest.
