Hellpoint Beginner’s Guide | Tips for getting started

Hellpoint is a Souls-like, which means it’s tough and full of dark systems. Before you can get an idea of what is going on, you will probably be punched. Even veterans of the genre will benefit from our beginner’s guide. We have tips to help you get through the first part of the game alive.

Below are some tips for Hellpoint beginners. These tips will help you learn some of the game systems and give you some strategies for dealing with the horrors that await you in the dark corners of the space station.

Watch your stamina

The green bar in the upper left of the HUD indicates the resistance level. The thing that is most likely to get you killed early is running out of energy when fighting an enemy. Virtually everything you do outside of walking consumes stamina. When you have low stamina, you are unable to attack, defend, dash, or jump until the gauge fills up.

When starting the game for the first time, your stamina can be reduced quickly. So until you can gather enough Axion to increase your stamina level, you should be extremely cautious. Taking on more than one or two enemies is a death sentence, as it only takes a few heavy attacks to run out of stamina.

Be aware of the time

One of Hellpoint’s unique mechanics is the Black Hole Clock. You will see the clock in the upper left corner of the screen. At certain times, you’ll be able to open doors that you couldn’t before and you’ll find more powerful enemies around the station. For more information on this mechanic, check out our Black Hole watch guide.

Learn to heal

Unlike Dark Souls, Breaches (this bonfire’s version of this game) won’t heal you or refill your healing methods (this game’s Estus Flask). Instead, you need to replenish your Healing Methods by landing attacks on enemies. This means you can’t avoid enemies like in Dark Souls. You should fight all the enemies you encounter so that you can keep a lot of heal stacks confidential.
