Biographical synthesis

He was born on February 17 , 1888 , in Poland . With a racist and misogynistic outlook, they led him to sympathize with the emerging German National Socialist Workers Party.

His doctrines on the virile alliance between men, against the influence of women, were nevertheless viewed with hostility by the Nazi hierarchy, especially after the night of the long knives wiped out the group of people most sensitive to Blüher’s theories.

Compromised ideology

In a secret address by Heinrich Himmler to the SS in 1937 , the writer’s views were expressly declared dangerous. During the Nazi dictatorship, Blüher stopped publishing, in return the authorities did not bother him, freeing him from the fate of many homosexuals of that period.

He published again after the war , but his ideas were too tied to the cultural climate of the Weimar Republic to gain any resonance.

There was an attempt to recover his thinking by a French right-wing gay group, which led to the translation into that language of some of his works, but it has not been very often. Therefore, today, the interest in Blüher and his work can be considered only of a historical nature.

Death

He died in Berlin , Germany on February 4 , 1955 at the age of 67.
