Everything we know about Battlefield V

Fashion in video games, like in the fashion industry, has gotten a comeback. For five years Call of Duty and Battlefield have been stuffing players with “modern warfare” games, but it looks like it’s time to get back to basics. EA has shown fans Battlefield V, which is scheduled for release on October 19, 2018.

But we already know more than we should. Today HB will tell you everything we know about the setting, new modes, and features of Battlefield V.

Setting

Battlefield V brings the series back to its roots by telling the story of World War II. After the 2000s, the setting got tired of the players, but due to the oversaturation of the theme of the “new war”, it looks interesting again. The game’s plot will focus on the armies of Europe and Britain. Players will be thrown onto the battlefields in North Africa, the Battle of Rotterdam, as well as the occupation of Switzerland and Norway.

The storyline in Battlefield V is not a standard story campaign, but separate chapters. The singleplayer was tucked into the War Stories mode, in which players will learn the stories of specific heroes. First of all, they will talk about the women’s resistance squad from Norway. Fans have already resented this, but design chief Alan Kertz said the game was never authentic.

“There are other more authentic WW2 games, from Day of Defeat to Post Scriptum … Let’s not forget that the first WW2 Battlefield (Battlefield 1942 – approx.) Had a jetpack in the expansion, and the Russians used the MP18 or Japanese SMG … We want to create the most immersive experience we can create, and that forces us to [close our eyes] to some physical and authentic elements. We also want (the game – ed.) To be fun in the long run … I’m sure we hit the mark. Not for everyone, but hit, ”said Kertz.

Single player and Tides of War

Battlefield V will not end in North Africa, the Battle of Rotterdam, and the occupation of Switzerland. Going forward, DICE will be releasing new story missions for Tides of War. This is a completely new service that becomes available after purchasing the game. Every 2-3 months, new story missions will be uploaded there, with temporary events, trials and rewards.

In Tides of War, you can grab unique rewards, including items for customizing characters and vehicles, as well as weapons and gadgets. The service will replace the paid DLC and Season Pass, which DICE decided to drop from Battlefield V. Now the game will gradually become overgrown with content, and gamers will not have to constantly buy add-ons.

Combined Arms cooperative mode

Battlefield V will launch a co-op Combined Arms. Players will team up in teams of up to four and complete tasks. The game will randomly assign conditions, and each battle becomes unique. For successful completion, there are rewards that are valid in other modes.

Customization and progression

This also applies to characters who can choose their gender, appearance and class. By winning different modes, players will receive customization items that can be used to decorate your soldier and improve weapons or equipment. DICE made a deep system with a leveling tree. Weapons and vehicles have their own branch of skills that you can develop for yourself.

For example, you can add additional armor to the tank at the expense of mobility. Interestingly, you can create multiple weapon and vehicle skill sets and switch between them on the respawn screen. Plus, weapons are unlocked in any order. You don’t need to open three pistols to get to the one you want – just unlock it for the accumulated points.

New guns, vehicles and customization items are purchased with in-game currency. “Bucks” are earned for completing missions, daily challenges and Special assignments. For completing them, players receive currency, points and items, which can also be unlocked by game. Plus, EA has no plans to introduce loot boxes into the game, at least not at the beginning.

Multiplayer

A new Grand Operations mode has been added to Battlefield V, but the usual Conquest, Team Deathmatch and Domination remain. In Grand Operations, battles last four in-game days and are divided into phases. Phase 1 – players are parachuted to the point, phase 2 – kneading begins, phase 3 – the fight for points. Phase 4 turns Battlefield V into a battle royale. Players are left with one life and a limited number of rounds. The first team to destroy the enemy squad wins.

The changes also affected the game balance. Fighters now return to the battlefield with less ammo and less ammo. It is assumed that the fighters will call for help or collect cartridges from killed enemies. Everyone can now revive followers, but it will take longer than a medic. In addition, not all health will be restored. Also, now it is impossible to fully regenerate health, and only the first-aid kit heals completely.

Game environment

Battlefield has always been famous for destructible environments and now this feature has been taken to the next level. Buildings have become completely destructible, and flying debris can even kill. Walls can now be shot through and you can shoot opponents who are barricaded in the house. At the same time, players can rebuild buildings or improve defenses.

Anyone can build, but only the support class will do it best. As with the Medic, this takes longer for the average soldier. Still, no one prevents any fighter from installing a machine gun in the window, which he will pull from the enemy base.
