Elle Macpherson. Eleanor Nancy Gow, better known as Elle Macpherson is an Australian supermodel and occasional actress. His slender and very tall figure earned him the famous nickname “The Body”. Along with Cindy Crawford , Linda Evangelista , Claudia Schiffer and Naomi Campbell, she is considered one of the great tops of the eighties and nineties that revolutionized the world of fashion.

Biographical synthesis

He was born in the beach suburb of Cronulla in Sydney , Australia on March 29 , 1964 . Elle is the oldest of four siblings. Her parents divorced when she was 14 years old and her mother remarried Neil Macpherson , then Elle took her stepfather’s paternal surname. Elle studied one year of law at the University of Sydney .

 

Fashion, magazines and catwalks

While on vacation in Aspen , Colorado , Elle was discovered and hired by the Click Models Agency . He became an international star for his appearance in ELLE magazine for six years. At age 21, she married Gilles Bensimon , a photographer and creative manager for ELLE for the first time . Eventually, Elle also posed for the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue . Mcpherson appeared on the cover up to four times.

In 1986 , her popularity rose enough that TIME magazine put her on the cover of one of their issues titled The Big Elle. The Australian government simultaneously offered Elle Macpherson a position as unofficial ambassador for the Tourism Commission. Macpherson was the biggest financial success of the fashion runway supermodels of her day. In 1997 , Elle Macpherson was estimated to be the supermodel with the most assets in the world, whose value amounted to 40.3 million dollars, being above Cindy Crawford , in second place in the same ranking, whose assets amounted to 37.7 million.

Macpherson was a partner at the Fashion Café restaurant, along with models Claudia Schiffer , Christy Turlington and Naomi Campbell . Macpherson owns a successful lingerie brand called Elle Macpherson Intimates, whose products are manufactured by the New Zealand company Bendon. Elle has done various acts of charity, including supporting those with AIDS and the homeless.

Elle Macpherson is very popular in Australia . In 1999 she was the fifth living Australian celebrity and her image was published on a postage stamp.

 

Film and television

Although she appeared in Woody Allen’s film Alice in 1990 , her film debut occurs in 1994 with the film Mermaids, starring Hugh Grant and Sam Neill . Macpherson put on nine kilograms in weight to pose in the style of 1930s models . She surprised fans and critics by appearing nude in numerous scenes, which gave her more publicity than several actors in this film. Macpherson acted in the Franco Zeffirelli film Jane Eyre, within a large cast: William Hurt , Charlotte Gainsbourg , Anna Paquin , Geraldine Chaplin, Joan Plowright ; in that year, he also acted in the film If you don’t marry, I kill myself (If Lucy Fells) with Ben Stiller and Sarah Jessica Parker . And she would have a small role under Barbra Streisand in the film Love Has Two Faces, alongside Jeff Bridges , Lauren Bacall and Pierce Brosnan .

In 1997 it acts into two unequal movies: the new girl in the failed-Batman Batman and Robin by Joel Schumacher ; and the film The Challenge of Lee Tamahori , written by David Mamet , opposite Anthony Hopkins and Alec Baldwin , which is considered his best performance. In 1999 , Macpherson appeared in five episodes of the US television sitcom Friends playing the roommate and briefly girlfriend Joey , Janine Lecroix .

He participates in more projects for the cinema (Like friends like these with David Strathairn and Martin Scorsese ), but focuses his career on television, either in telefilms like Stages of love with Rupert Everett and Sienna Miller and series like The beautiful life .

Private life

Macpherson became engaged to Swiss financier Arpad Arkie Busson in 2002 , after 6 years of dating. They had two children, Arpad Flynn and Aurelius Cy Andre, but they separated in July 2005 without ever getting married.
