Baler. It is an agricultural machine whose sole use is to collect hay, oats , straw, etc. and compress it into bales that are finally tied with ropes.
Steps before packing
Before baling hay or any material to be baled, it is necessary to mow it with a mower , let the hay dry, use a baler (used to turn the hay over so that it dries on all sides) and then bale it. At least 3 days must pass from the time the hay is mowed until it can be baled: one day it is mowed, the next day it is baled with a baler and the next day it is baled.
Guys
There is currently a wide variety of balers of all sizes and brands on the market. There are two main types: round balers and square balers, the latter being more widely used due to their greater storage capacity (a normal-sized round baler can make a bale of over 400 kg). The former are mainly used for the harvesting of green hay.
Types of bales
There are mainly two types of bales: dry bales and green bales.
Dry bales
Dry bales are those made using hay dried in the sun or with a dehydrator . This hay, being completely dry and without fermentation, can be used in feeding breeding animals.
Bales in green
These are bales in which the hay has not been dried, but has been baled directly when green. Round balers are usually used to make these bales.
The procedure to make them is much more complex:
First, the hay is mowed. This should be done, if possible, late in the afternoon or early in the morning. Then, the hay is baled. Afterwards, and since the hay is baled green and therefore still retains its moisture, it is necessary to cover the bale with a special plastic wrap using a baler.
The entire process from harvesting to wrapping should not take more than 24 hours. Before the finished bales, which are called silos, can be used, at least three months must pass, during which the bales ferment. Because of this fermentation , these bales should not be used to feed young animals, but rather to feed adult animals.
