Biographical synthesis
She began ballet training when she was six years old at the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet with Marcia Dale Weary. In 1999 , after attending the summer program at the School of American Ballet (SAB), the official school of New York City Ballet , Ashley Bouder was invited by SAB to continue her training during the winter session.
Bouder was appointed an apprentice at the New York City Ballet in June 2000 . She became a member of the corps de ballet in October 2000. She was promoted to the rank of Soloist in February 2004 and became a principal dancer in January 2005. Bouder dances as a guest artist with ballet companies and festivals around the world. . She also has a degree in Political Science .
She is married to financier Peter de Florio and gave birth to their daughter, Violet Storm de Florio. . In 2002, Ms. Bouder appeared on the televised broadcast live nationwide from Lincoln Center ” Diamond Project Ballet of New York City : Ten years of new choreography” on PBS , mercurial dancing maneuvers. In 2011 , Ms. Bouder danced the role of Dewdrop on George Balanchine’s PBS broadcast of The Nutcracker’s’ Live from Lincoln Center , which was also screened in theaters around the world.

It is an artistic collaboration dedicated to promoting the inclusion of women and marginalized people in leadership roles in the world of the performing arts. Specifically, the ABP strives to work with and nurture talented individuals in the fields of choreography and musical composition . By choosing artists of the highest caliber and combining choreographers with composers , dancers, costume designers and lighting designers, the ABP hopes to create quality artistic performances and films, while establishing parity and fairness in the creative process and beyond. .
Bouder runs her own small company , The Ashley Bouder Project , which has mounted several groundbreaking ballet productions in New York over the years, primarily focused on commissioning new works by choreographers and composers, including her own. Notable appearances at the Joyce Theater in 2015 and The Symphony Space in 2017 , in collaboration with The New York Jazzharmonic. This was the first time that an entire night of ballet in various styles was organized solely with the accompaniment of a jazz orchestra.
He has danced in ballet galas around the world and has been a guest star on companies as the Paris Opera Ballet , the Ballet of the Rome Opera and the Mariinsky Ballet. She has been awarded the Mae L. Wien Award for Outstanding Promise at the School of American Ballet as a student. As a professional, her awards include Janice Levin Honoree from the New York City Ballet, Miss Expressivity for 2011 and Miss Virtuosity for 2013 from Dance Open Gala, and a nomination from Benois de la Danse in 2014 and 2019 .
As a choreographer , using the artistic collaboration she founded, The Ashley Bouder Project as an outlet for her work, Ms. Bouder hopes to promote other choreographers, while at the same time being an example for women to be more advanced and prominent in creating and the direction. Her previous work has been featured at the Choreographic Workshop at the School of American Ballet, the New York City Ballet at the Dancer’s Choice Program, the Ashley Bouder Project at the Peter Norton Symphony Space in New York, and at Bryant Park Presents.
