He was born on 3 April as as 1958 in New York , United States . He is the son of Carol Newcomb and Alexander Rae, a late professor. He has 5 brothers, some of them are actors.

He studied some courses in Political Science at George Washington University . He also studied acting at New York University and the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute.

Career path

He made his television debut in the 1980s as the lead in the series ” Cutter to Houston . He also did theater on Broadway .

At the end of the 80’s he managed to make his debut as a film interpreter, appearing in “Forever, Lulu” (1987), a title directed by Amos Kollek that starred actress Hannah Schygulla. The films that would follow this film would end up making him a star, titles such as “Bitelchus” (1988) by Tim Burton, ” Married to Everyone ” (1988) by Jonathan Demme, “Woman Guns” (1988) by Mike Nichols or “Great ball of fire ”(1989), biopic of Jerry Lee Lewis directed by Jim McBride starring Dennis Quaid .
