Before using this medicine
Before you use this medicine check with your doctor, or pharmacist:
if you ever had any unusual or allergic reaction to xanthine-derivative bronchodilators.
if you are on a low-salt, low-sugar, or any other special diet, or if you are allergic to any substance, such as sulfites or other preservatives or dyes.
if you are pregnant or intend to become pregnant while using this medicine.
if you are breastfeeding an infant. Theophylline passes into the breast milk and may cause irritability, fretfulness, or trouble in sleeping in infants of mothers taking this medicine.
if you have any of the following medical problems:
Diarrhea Enlarged prostate Fibrocystic breast disease Heart disease Stomach ulcer.
Treatment of Accurbron
This medication is used to relieve or prevent the symptoms of your medical problem. Take them as directed. Do not take more of them and do not take them more often than recommended on the label, unless otherwise directed by your doctor. To do so may increase the chance of side effects. The medicine should be taking on an empty stomach 30 to 60 minutes before a meal or two hours after a meal. Try not to miss any
doses of this medication. If you do miss a dose, take the missed dose as soon as possible, unless it is almost time for the next dose. Do not double the next dose. It works best when taken with a glass of water.
Side effects of Accurbron
The following minor side effects may occur:
- Dizziness or flushing
- Headache
- Diarrhea
- Heartburn
- Increased urination
- Nervousness or irritability
- Loss of appetite
- Nausea or stomach upset
- Stomach pain.
These side effects should disappear as your body adjusts to the medication. Tell your doctor about any side effects that are persistent or particularly bothersome. It is especially important to tell your doctor about black, tarry stools; confusion; convulsions; difficulty in breathing; fainting; muscle twitching; palpitations; rash; severe abdominal pain; or unusual weakness.
Interactions
This medicine interacts with several other drugs such as diuretics, reseipine, beta blockers, phenytoin, lithium, phe-nobarbital, birth control pills, and other medications.Be sure to tell your doctor about any medications you are currently taking.
Storage
Tablets, capsules, liquid and suspension should be stored at room temperature in tightly closed containers. Store away from heat and direct light. Keep out of reach of children, since overdose may be very dangerous in children. Discard any outdated medication.
