Abbe Lane, stage name Abigail Francine Lassman, was born in Brooklyn , New York , on December 14 , 1932 .

Artistic career

She started out as a child singer on the radio , and from there she began singing and dancing on Broadway . In 1952 she married Xavier Cugat and they divorced in 1964 , Lane achieved her greatest success as a nightclub singer and was written in a 1963 year magazine article as “the sexiest in the entertainment world”.

Cugat’s influence is noticeable in his Latin style and the rumba of his music . In 1958 he starred alongside Tony Randall in the Broadway musical “Oh, Captain!” His most successful album was in 1958 , in collaboration with Tito Puente called “Be Mine Tonight”. Although he had solo, Carril frequently appeared in concerts alongside Cugat.

She drew attention with suggestive comments like “Jayne Mansfield can turn boys into men , but I can shoot them there” and also a comment that was considered “too sexy in Italy .” Her clothes chosen to appear on the “Jackie Gleason Show” were considered very bold and she took it upon herself to add something else; however she appeared on shows by Red Skelton, Dean Martin and Jack Benny without much controversy. In addition to films in Italy, he was invited to some television series such as “The Flying Nun”, “The Brady Bunch”, “Hart and Hart” and “Vega $”. for his contribution to television.
