Unlike Fortnite, Core was originally conceived as a Roblox-like game —it’s once again a platform focused on user-created games. You might think Core and Fortnite are very similar. If so, you’re right: the developers share a common vision for the industry, and you can download Core right from the Epic launcher.
In Core, you also create a unique character who retains their appearance, progress, and items across hundreds of different game worlds. However, as in previous Roblox-like games on our list, you can not only complete challenges but also develop full-fledged game modes using built-in tools.
The platform offers a huge library of ready-made assets—models, sounds, scripts—that can be used to quickly build your own mode. Players use these pre-made kits, customize everything, and publish their projects to the shared library of custom games . As a result, the platform offers a huge variety of content: from arcade shooters to RPGs and social games. Many modes resemble minigames from Roblox, but have a more modern look thanks to Unreal Engine 5.
Blockman Go

Blockland

It’s time to dust off one of the oldest games made like Roblox . Few will remember, but back in 2007, Blockland was released—a project featuring multiple worlds created by players themselves. The only difference was that the visual style was much more reminiscent of Lego than modern Roblox.
Blockland’s popularity peaked in 2014, when several thousand people logged into the game. Servers were filled with a multitude of modes: prison escape, role-playing servers, pirate battles, and frantic player-versus-player battles. There was even a parkour system.
Unfortunately, the game is practically dead now. Despite its venerable age, a small core of fans still plays, but peak activity by today’s standards is low—around 40-50 players at best. However, nothing’s stopping you from grabbing some friends and having fun on one of the remaining servers.
LEGO Worlds

While we’re on the topic of Lego, it’s time to mention LEGO Worlds—a true Lego fan’s dream, only in digital format. It’s an open sandbox where you explore procedurally generated worlds, collect thousands of unique LEGO bricks, and build whatever you can imagine, from cozy houses to epic castles. The ultimate goal is to become a “Master Builder.” To do this, you need to collect gold bricks by completing character quests, exploring chests, and unlocking new objects: characters, creatures, vehicles, and buildings.
Unlike the familiar Roblox concept, there’s no longer a vast metaverse with thousands of worlds. However, LEGO Worlds emphasizes creativity—you can populate your worlds with fun creatures, add vehicles, various NPCs—in short, a whole bunch of stuff. Finally, you can invite a friend to join you as you explore locations or build monumental structures.
Hytale

Hytale is the newest and perhaps most anticipated game on our list. It immediately exploded onto the charts when it entered Early Access. The game is often called a “Minecraft killer,” but if you enjoy survival and creativity, you can easily choose this game over Roblox . Unlike classic sandbox games, it features a full-fledged adventure mode with quests, dungeons, and even bosses. Combat is much more dynamic than in Minecraft, with dodges, shields, combos, and special abilities for various weapons.
The project is incredibly ambitious. The developers are the creators of the world’s largest Minecraft server. They spent years studying what players were missing and implemented it in their game.
Hytale also retains the most important feature of its predecessor, Minecraft: moddability. The developers provide the same tools they use themselves: model editors, animation editors, and built-in scripts for creating custom worlds directly within the client.
Creativerse

Creativerse is a cozy survival game. It’s based on the classic “dig, craft, build” formula, but unlike Minecraft, the developers have added a bit of technology, combining it with a cartoonish style.
The player emerges into a world inhabited by strange creatures. Remnants of ancient technology can be found here and there. The main objective is to explore the biomes, extract rare materials, and discover increasingly complex recipes for survival.
Of course, you can’t create entire game modes here. However, Creativerse offers a full-fledged co-op mode, and it’s in this co-op mode that the project truly shines. You can build shared castles, explore dangerous caves together, and help each other tame monsters. Unfortunately, the project doesn’t have a large online community, so it’s best to gather some friends.
However, it’s worth keeping in mind an important technical detail: after the release of The Definitive Edition, the developers disabled shared central servers. Now, to play together, you’ll need to either connect via a local network or set up a server on your computer.
Garry’s Mod

Rounding out our list of Roblox-like games is a timeless classic. Garry’s Mod is a cult sandbox game based on the Source engine.
