How to Recover Deleted Photos from iPhone Without Computer

If it hasn’t been long since you deleted pictures from your iOS Camera Roll, you may be able to recover deleted photos from iPhone without a computer using a specific function built into the Photos app , the default app on Apple devices for storing, managing and editing photos and videos, as well as the iCloud Photo Library service .

More precisely, I am referring to the Recently Deleted album . In practice, this is a special “zone” where photos and videos deleted from the device are temporarily transferred. The removed contents remain in the album in question for a further 30 days , so that they can be recovered if necessary, after which they are permanently deleted from the phone’s memory and, if synchronized online, also from iCloud.

That said, you can try to restore the photo you are interested in by doing the following: first, launch the Photos app by tapping on the relevant icon (the one with the colored flower on a white background ) located on the home screen and/or in the iOS App Library, then tap on the Albums tab located at the bottom and select the Recently Deleted item that you find in the More section of the following screen.

At this point, proceed to unlock access to the section in question via Face ID or Touch ID , if necessary, then locate the photo you want to recover (for each of them it is also indicated how much time remains before definitive deletion), press on its preview , on the Recover button located at the bottom right and confirm your intentions by pressing the Recover photo button .

If you need to recover more than one image, you can do so by repeating the steps above for each of them. Alternatively, you can act on multiple items at the same time by tapping the Select button located in the upper right part of the Recently Deleted section screen above, selecting all the previews of the photos to be recovered, tapping the (…) button in the lower right, choosing the Recover item from the menu that appears and confirming your intentions by selecting the Recover [number] photos button .

Once recovered, you will find the photos in the Library tab of the app, accessible via the dedicated item located at the bottom, in the same position where they were located before the deletion.

How to Recover Deleted Photos from iPhone Without PC via Cloud

If you were unable to recover your photos using the dedicated function offered by the Photos app, but you use a cloud service other than iCloud where you usually store your photos, you may be able to recover the images you are interested in from there, with a bit of luck.

Below, therefore, you will find explained in detail how to recover deleted photos from iPhone without PC via cloud regarding the main solutions of this type.

Google Photos

If you want to try to recover deleted photos from iPhone without PC and on your Apple smartphone you had previously installed the Google Photos app and configured it to automatically save images from the camera roll, or you had saved the photos you were interested in on Google’s cloud before deleting them from the iOS camera roll, then you have little to fear: most likely, the images are safe in Google’s dedicated space.

To try and recover your photos, first launch the Google Photos app on your iPhone by tapping the icon ( the one with the colored pinwheel on a white background ) on the home screen and/or in the iOS App Library, then log in to your Google account , if necessary.

At this point, go to the Photos tab by selecting the item at the bottom, look at all the thumbnails of the available photos and you will see that with a bit of luck, you will find the photo you are interested in there. Alternatively, you can perform a direct search, going to the Search tab by selecting the item at the bottom and exploring the various categories , activities etc. proposed or typing the reference keywords in the Search in your photos field at the top.

If you actually manage to find the photo you want to recover, to save it to the iOS Camera Roll, long-press on it to select it and then on any other images you want to recover, then press the Share button that appears on the bottom bar and choose the Save to Device option , or the Share with option to save it in another app or to use the sharing options on WhatsApp , Facebook , etc.

If, however, you have also deleted the images within Google Photos, you still have the possibility of recovering them by visiting the app’s Trash : that’s where manually deleted images are stored for 30 days . After this period, the photos are permanently deleted from the cloud.

To access the Google Photos Trash, go to the Collection tab by selecting the item at the bottom, then press the Trash button on the proposed screen and locate the photo you want to recover, then tap on its thumbnail and on the Restore button located at the bottom.

If you need to recover more than one image, you can do so by repeating the steps above for each one. Alternatively, tap the Select item at the top of the Recycle Bin screen above, select all the photos you want to recover, tap the Restore button at the bottom right, and confirm your intentions by tapping the Restore button again in response to the warning that appears.

Dropbox

Do you use the Dropbox app on your iPhone and had you taken care to activate the automatic uploading of photos in the iOS camera roll before deleting the image from the iPhone or had you manually saved them on it? Then you have nothing to worry about, as the automatically uploaded images can be recovered immediately through the dedicated space of the service.

So, to try to recover your photos, first launch the Dropbox app on your iPhone by tapping on the icon (the one with the open white box on a blue background ) on the home screen and/or in the iOS App Library, then log in to your Dropbox account , if necessary.

At this point, access the Photos tab by selecting the item at the bottom, look at all the thumbnails of the available photos and if you are lucky you will find the photo you are interested in there. Alternatively, you can perform a direct search, going to the Home tab by selecting the item at the bottom and exploring the various folders , suggestions etc. or typing the reference keywords in the Search for any item field at the top.

If by doing this you manage to find the photo you want to recover, to save it to the iOS camera roll, press and hold on it to select it and then on any other images you want to recover, then press the (…) button at the bottom right and on the Export item attached to the menu that appears, then select the Save image option , or choose one of the other available options to use sharing in other apps.

If, however, you deleted the image in question from the Dropbox app for iPhone but 30 days have not yet passed since its deletion, you can almost certainly restore it using the section called Recover deleted files of the service.

To access it, go to the Account tab by selecting the item at the bottom, then press on the Recover deleted files item in the proposed screen and locate the photo you want to recover, then tap on the file name and on the Restore button located at the bottom.

If you need to recover more than one image, you can do so by repeating the steps above for each one. Alternatively, place a check mark in the box next to each photo in the Recover Deleted Files section above, press the Recover button in the top right, and confirm your intentions by tapping the Recover All Files button .

Other Cloud Solutions

You don’t use any of the services already mentioned, but you prefer to entrust the storage of your images to other cloud solutions (e.g. OneDrive ), so now you fear that you won’t be able to access the images you deleted from your smartphone again and would like to understand how to recover deleted photos from iPhone without PC in that case?

Don’t despair. The above discussion is in fact valid for most cloud service apps dedicated to smartphones and tablets: if you had previously activated automatic photo uploading, or had taken care to keep only the images that were important to you, you can easily recover them by starting the app in question and logging in to your account, if necessary.

Furthermore, many of these applications provide for the use of the recycle bin , that is, a specific area where deleted images “transit” for a certain period of time.

How to Recover Permanently Deleted Photos from iPhone Without PC

If you have not yet managed to perform the operation described in this tutorial using the methods already reported, I inform you that, unfortunately, there is not much else you can do to recover permanently deleted photos from iPhone without a PC , at least not without having a computer available, in fact.

You should know, in fact, that there are software programs designed to recover deleted photos, such as those I told you about in my guides on how to recover deleted iPhone photos and how to recover deleted files from your cell phone , capable of analyzing the iPhone’s memory and recovering deleted images from it.

To be honest, there are also smartphone apps that act in a similar way, like the ones you find reported in my specific tutorial on apps for recovering deleted photos , but these are solutions available only for Android devices .

In any case, know that their success rate is not always very high. It all depends on the state of the device’s memory. If, in fact, the portions of memory that hosted the reference photos have been overwritten by other data, there will be absolutely nothing to do to recover the shots.
