FromSoftware’s RPGs have always featured spells and sorcery, but if you’re into magic-style builds, Elden Ring takes things to a whole new level. There are a wide variety of different spells and enchantments, as well as all sorts of different staves, seals, and magical outfits to use. Plus, various accessories that enhance your character’s abilities in unique ways. Some of them, however, are not easy to come by, especially when they are part of complex quest lines. Here’s how to get the magical scorpion amulet in the Elden Ring, and what to do if you’re not sure if it’s worth spending your time finding.
As you may have guessed from the introduction above, getting the Magic Scorpion Charm is a complicated process that takes quite a bit of time and a bit of back and forth. It is an item that you can only get by undertaking two different quest lines: Ranni the Witch and Seluvis the Sorcerer.
To make everything easier to understand, we’re going to break down each step below. First, though, here are a few things to keep in mind:
- You should have progressed through the game after you’ve beaten Margit, Godrick, and Rennala and when you can access Ranni’s Rise, which is just north of Carian Manor. Your level should probably be 40+ if you’re playing through the Elden Ring for the first time.
- This quest won’t be available until you’ve defeated Margit the Fell Omen, then talked to Nepheli and then her father Gideon (exhausting all of his dialogue on Nepheli) in Roundtable Hold; Gideon is in his study, which is only unlocked after talking to Enia in the room with Two Fingers, while Nephalia should be outside.
- The purpose of the above is to get Nepheli to relocate to the Albinaur Village and then help her kill the Omenkiller there. Nepheli will then move to Roundtable Hold once more and the quest lines you’ll follow next will be set up correctly for the events to play out.
- If you haven’t already, go and find the two halves of the Dectus Medallion so you can travel through the Great Dectus Elevator (detailed guide here).
- Do not progress the Seluvis quest line beyond the point detailed in this guide if you want to ally yourself with Ranni, otherwise she will find out about your plot and, well, things don’t end well…
How to get the magic scorpion amulet
Ok, without further ado, let’s get into the tutorial:
- Start Ranni’s questline by visiting her at Ranni’s Rise.
- After Ranni has given you her quest, talk to the three spirits below; important, Selivus. He then go and visit him at his tower, which is just south of Ranni’s.
- Accept Seluvis’s task to give Nepheli a potion, then return to Roundtable Hold, find her (at the bottom of the stairs below Master Hewg – if she’s not there, you haven’t completed the prerequisites listed above), and exhaust her dialogue until she accepts and drinks the potion. While she’s here, she also talks to Gideon again.
- Return to Ranni’s Rise, then travel directly east to find an illusionary floor among a nearby ruin.
There are many ruins in this area, but you are looking for one that has a ruined arch. Roll just inside the arch and the floor will fade away to reveal a ladder.
- Inside the lab below, interact with the Selivus puppet. The following message will appear: “Seluvis puppet. Do not touch.”
- Now go back to Selivus, buy everything he has in his shop and then talk to him again until he offers you a puppet of your own. After this, she recharges the area, and he should task you to bring him Amber Starlight.
If Selivus doesn’t task you with finding Amber Starlight, you may have to purchase the remaining puppets with Starlight Shards until the questline continues.
- Travel through the Dectus Lift and then up the road north to the location you see in the image below (where the red circle is). You’re looking for a dark cave (it’s more like a hole in the ground) where you’ll find the Amber Starlight key item. He’s surrounded by octopus-like enemies, so quickly get in and then run away.
- Now finally go back to Selivus and give him the Amber Starlight. He will deliver the Magical Scorpion Charm as a reward.
