Before getting to the heart of this guide and explaining, in practice, how to connect the decoder to the Wi Fi Internet , it is good to give you some more information about what you are about to do.
First of all, you should know that not all decoders allow you to connect to the Internet wirelessly: some devices, especially those a little older, do not have a wireless card but only an Ethernet cable input. Therefore, before making any attempt, check the actual compatibility with the technology in question, by taking a look at the technical data sheet of the device, or by searching on Google for phrases such as [brand and model of decoder] Wi-Fi connection .
If the decoder is equipped with Wi-Fi functions, make sure that it is within the range of the wireless modem in your equipment: if the signal is too poor, the connection quality may be poor and, consequently, not suitable for making some operations (e.g. streaming, where available).

Finally, keep in mind that not all decoders can use the Internet in the same way: on some devices, for example, you can use the Network only to download system updates and / or access the HbbTV system of satellite channels; other decoders, on the other hand, can use the connection only with pre-installed applications; in still other cases, the Internet can be used to stream content or to download additional applications from the integrated stores.
How to connect the decoder to the Wi-Fi Internet
In spite of what happened in the past, numerous new generation decoders for the reception of digital terrestrial and satellite channels allow you to take advantage of the Internet connection for the reproduction of multimedia contents in streaming, to download the updates dedicated to the operating system. edge or, in some cases, even for downloading apps from integrated stores.

Now, make sure that the lever at the top of the screen is set to ON (otherwise you do it), select the name of the wireless network of your interest from those available and, when prompted, enter the password of the same in the appropriate text field and press the Connect button to establish the connection. If requested, accept the terms of use of the operating system and complete any proposed updates.
How to connect the Sky decoder to the WiFi Internet
If the decoder in your possession was provided to you by Sky , you will be happy to know that the connection procedure is extremely simple and that the steps to be taken are the same for almost all the devices of the Sky Q line ( Sky Q Black / ex MySky HD, Sky Q Platinum and Sky Q via the Internet ).
If this is the first time you turn on the decoder, after connecting it to the power supply and the television and setting the latter to the correct source, you will be offered a guided procedure for the initial configuration of the device: therefore, using the directional arrows on the remote control of Sky, select the Start button , press the OK button on the remote control and, when prompted, choose you want to connect via Wi-Fi .
Next, select the network you want to connect to, give OK again and, using the keyboard that appears on the screen, type the password to use to establish the connection and give OK again . Finally, follow the instructions that are offered to you to complete the configuration of the device (updates, privacy settings, and so on).
If, on the other hand, you have already used the decoder before but want to connect it to the Internet only now, proceed as follows: press the Home button on the Sky remote control and use the directional arrows to select the Settings item , which appears in the sidebar visible on the screen.
Now, press the OK button on the remote control and, in the same way, open the Configure , Network and Connect in Wi-Fi menus of the decoder; at this point, select the name of the network to be used from those available, press the OK button on the remote control and, using the virtual keyboard that appears on the side, enter the password associated with the selected network and press the Confirm button to establish the connection .
