The first solution I want to tell you about is EveryCircuit . It is an app specifically designed to create electrical circuits and test them, thanks also to the help of dynamic animations that simulate voltage, current and charge. You can download and use it completely free of charge , but an in-app purchase is required (starting at €0.70 ) to be able to create large circuits, save an unlimited number of them, archive them on the cloud and synchronize all the projects between your devices.

To use this solution, download and install EveryCircuit on your Android device (if you have one without the Play Store, check if it is available in alternative stores ) or iOS / iPadOS , then launch it.

As you will see, from the first launch you are ready to use the app without hesitation: press on the icon with the sign on a sheet of paper, which you will find in the top right, and a work area will open in front of you where you can start creating the circuit you want to examine and test.

In particular, on the screen you will already find the Gnd symbol (or earth ), you will have to proceed to add all the others simply by tapping on the desired element located at the top of the screen (slide your finger from right to left to scroll through the entire library). Once this is done, you will have to associate the value you are interested in with each component: tap on an element (e.g. resistor) and then press on the wrench-shaped icon , located at the bottom left, and proceed to associate the corresponding value (e.g. 12 V) using the wheel that appears at the bottom right or by pressing the + or  buttons that you always find next to the selector.

Now that you have the elements of your circuit correctly calibrated, it’s time to arrange them: to do this, grab an element and move it where you want. You can also rotate it by pressing the icon with the four arrows at the bottom of the app screen, invert it by tapping the icon with the turning arrow , or delete it by tapping the trash icon .

Once you have arranged all the elements on your “table”, move on to connecting them together: tap the dot at the end of a symbol, then tap the dot at the end of the element you want to connect it to, the connection will happen automatically.

When everything is ready, press the yellow triangle at the bottom left: the animated circuit will appear on the screen, along with the indications relating to the current flowing in the circuit and in each resistor . It is basically free , but to unlock some functions, such as the ability to export projects to JPG , PNG or PDF , or libraries, an in-app purchase is required (starting at €2.09 ).

To use PROTO, first download the app on your Android device (if you have one without a Play Store, check if it is available on alternative stores ). Once the download is complete, launch the app.

Next, press the sheet icon (top right) and, if necessary, press OK to the message that reports the new features introduced in the latest update. Once this is done, press the + Simulate button and the “work table” will open in front of you.

Start by pressing the (+) button to open the component library and add the ones you need for your work by simply tapping on them. Once this phase is complete, position the individual elements of the circuit as you need them by tapping on them and dragging your finger on the screen. You can also rotate the elements by pressing on the curved arrow icon , duplicate them by pressing on the icon shaped like two overlapping sheets or delete them by pressing on the trash can icon . Once you have positioned an element correctly, press on it and choose the icon relating to the modification of the parameters (the one with the lines and dots , which you find above the icon with the curved arrow useful for rotating the objects) and choose, from the menu that appears, which parameter to modify (e.g.: name , resistance , voltage , bias ).

To give you a practical example, after adding and placing a resistor in the work area, click on it, tap the parameter editing icon , choose Resistance and indicate the appropriate Ohms, using the circular selector that will appear at the bottom right.

Now it’s time to connect all the elements together: tap the dot at the end of the component symbol, then tap the dot at the end of the component you want to connect it to, or, if you prefer, tap the point in the workspace where you want to run the cable.

Once the circuit is closed correctly, an animation will automatically start showing the current flowing inside the circuit. Then tap an element , such as the conductor or the resistor, to discover other details such as the current flowing in each resistor or the voltage across each resistor. If you want to have an oscilloscope analysis, tap on the wave icon .

You can further adjust the simulator by accessing the settings (the < symbol at the bottom right) and choosing what to show and what to hide during the animation. Through this panel you can also export the circuit you just created ( EXPORT button ), however, I inform you that this function is only available for premium users. But do not worry: the app automatically saves the circuit.
