Biographical Synthesis
He was born on May 21, 1887 in Bilbao , he died in Madrid on July 11 , 1970 . He begins his career in the studio of Emiliano Amann , with whom he works in the building of the Sociedad Bilbaína ( 1910 ). He studied architecture -which he would later expand in the Netherlands- at the universities of Barcelona and Madrid , graduating in 1913 from the latter, he began to work in the Spanish capital, where he would develop most of his career, with Antonio palacesin the Banco del Río de la Plata building and in the Palace of Communications. His work was characterized, at first, by a taste for traditional architecture, regionalism and historicism.
In 1920 , together with Manuel Mañas, he created the Society for Architecture Studies, owing him a Partial Road Reform Project for the Interior of Bilbao (Madrid, 1922). In 1930 he collaborated with Arniches and Martín Domínguez at the Café Zahara. From the year 1931 dates the building of El Fénix in the Plaza de la Independencia. in 1932he is appointed director of works for the Technical Office of accesses and outskirts of Madrid. His training as an urban planner also allowed him to project his works in tune with the physiognomy of the city where he carried them out. Outside of Madrid he also carries out numerous constructions and urban projects, such as in the Basque Country, Santander , Las Palmas de Gran Canaria , Seville , Barcelona , Córdoba , Granada and Zaragoza .

During the Second Republic, Secundino Zuazo became one of the heads of state urban planning. It was his most productive time as an architect and as an urban planner , however, his professional career was interrupted by the outbreak of the Civil War, which forced him to move to France . Upon his return to Spain in 1940 , he was interned and temporarily disabled in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria until 1943 . During the first years of the postwar period, in tune with the political ideology of the dictatorship, he made a nationalist architecture with regionalist and historicist nuances.
