What should you know before disabling security questions within Windows 10?
Windows security questions help you when making any changes at the account level within this operating system. This will help you maintain a higher level of security and that only you are the one who knows the answers to these questions.
These security questions are very essential for your system, as these questions are required every time you want to make a significant change to the system. Therefore, you should think very carefully if you really want to disable this function from your system.
You will not be able to create a new account if you do not suggest another password
One of the things that you will also not be able to do on your system if you disable security questions in Windows 10 is to create new accounts if you do not add a password to them. This is a measure taken by the developers of this system to increase the security of the computer in case someone tries to enter it without permission.
What is the way to disable security questions on a local account in Windows 10?
Now that you know what happens if you manage to disable the security questions that the Windows system has, you may want to take the risk and disable them. This is fairly easy to do, so you won’t spend a lot of time setting it up.
There are several ways in which you will be able to deactivate these questions , so we are going to explain them all so that you can use the one that is easiest and most convenient for you.
Going into ‘accounts’ in Windows settings
One of the ways in which you will be able to deactivate the security questions in your Windows system is from the accounts option that is in the Windows configuration. This is the most common way to do it, so it will be very easy to configure it, you just have to follow these instructions:
- Go to the Windows start menu, there you are going to click on the gear icon, which will direct you to the system settings .
- In this menu you will click on ‘Accounts’ and then you will enter ‘Family’.
- Here you are going to click on the option ‘Add a new person to the team’ and a new window will open.
- Then, you will have to click on the ‘I don’t have someone else’s login details’ option.
- Then there will be other options to which you are going to click on ‘ Add a new user without Microsoft accounts‘.
- After doing this you will have to enter the username and add a password.
- Finally, in the questions section you are not going to complete any questions, you will only click on ‘Next’ and follow the instructions to complete the new user
In this way you will be able to disable the security questions for a new user, but you will not be able to make any changes to an account in which you already have the questions enabled. To disable them in a user who has them activated, you must perform the following method.
Inside the registry editor
In order for you to be able to completely remove the security questions from Windows, you must go to a section called ‘Registry Editor’ . In this section, you only have to do what we are going to tell you, because if you make any changes that are not what we tell you, you can cause a series of damages to the system that will lead you to have to make the system from scratch, for what you will lose the data you have on your computer. Now, to start turning off these questions, you’re going to do this:
- Open the run window, you get it by pressing the WIN + R keys. When it appears, you are going to write regedit in the writing bar and press Enter.
- Then, in the left sidebar, you are going to click on HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows.
- When this option opens, you are going to touch search for the ‘Windows’ folder and you will right click on it, then you will place the mouse on ‘New’ and when the tab expands you will click on ‘Key’
- Then, you’re going to look for the folder called ‘Key’ and you’re going to right-click it and you’re also going to click ‘New’. There you will click on ‘DWORD Value (32BITS).
- In the panel on the right side you will have to click on the new value called ‘NoLocalPasswordResetQuestions’.
- Now, in the new window, you are going to change the value data that is in ‘0’ to ‘1’. Then, you will click on accept and you can close the Windows registry editor.
Using keyboard commands
This could be a good way in which we could disable Windows security questions , but unfortunately it is not available in the Windows 10 operating system. The ways in which you will be able to do this will be as we explained to you a moment ago, so We suggest that you follow these instructions to the letter to deactivate these questions.
