All smartphones have an IMEI (International Mobile Equipment Identifier). This is a unique 15-digit number that is assigned to each mobile device operating in GSM, UMTS, LTE, 5G networks. We tell you how to find it on iOS and Android.
How to find out IMEI of iPhone
There are many ways to find out the IMEI of an Apple smartphone. We name them all.
View in OS settings
This is a simple and quick way. You need:
- Go to “Settings”;
- Select “Basic”;
- Go to the section “About this device”;
- The window will contain various data, including IMEI.
Using USSD command
Another simple and universal way to find out the IMEI of an iPhone is to enter a special command in the phone. You need to:
- Open the dialer app;
- Enter the numbers *#06#;
- Done, the IMEI is in front of you.
Look at the box
The IMEI of the smartphone can also be read on the device’s packaging (if it hasn’t been thrown away, of course). On the back side there will be a sticker with what you’re looking for
Using the Apple Devices app
You can use a PC and the proprietary program “Apple Devices”. You need to do this:
- Connect your iPhone to your PC with a wire;
- Launch the Apple Devices app;
- At the top of the screen, under the name of your iPhone, triple-tap;
- The IMEI will appear.
View on iPhone case
Older iPhones have the IMEI number on the back of the case. For example, the iPhone 5, iPhone 5C, iPhone 5S, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, and first-generation iPhone SE.
Look at the SIM card tray
In modern iPhones, you can also see the IMEI on the SIM card tray. To do this, you need to take it out with a paper clip and take a closer look. This is relevant for iPhones starting with the iPhone 6s.
View on Apple ID website
You can find out the IMEI of your iPhone (and other iPhones on the same account) on the Apple ID website. To do this:
- Go to the Apple ID website ;
- Enter your login and password;
- Then select “Devices” and the desired iPhone;
- Click on it and you will see various information including IMEI.

- Next “Status”
- Below you will see the IMEI.
Using USSD command

The original packaging of an Android smartphone also often contains the IMEI.
Look at the smartphone case
Some smartphones (but not all) have the IMEI stamped on the case.
Look at the SIM card tray
Many Android smartphones also have the SIM card tray containing the IMEI. But not all of them.

To do this:
- Go to Google’s dedicated site to search for Android devices;
- Enter your smartphone account details;
- Click on the gear icon;
- The IMEI information is in front of you
