How to Craft Medicine in Black Myth: Wukong

Medicine crafting is one of the last skills you’ll unlock in Black Myth: Wukong. While the options to craft weapons and armor appear automatically at the Guardian’s Temple once you’ve progressed far enough in Black Wind Mountain, medicine crafting requires you to complete a quest for a specific NPC. After that, you’ll also be able to craft Celestial Medicines, which provide permanent bonuses to your character using Mind Cores – found in crates, dropped by some bosses, and carried by the Dog.

It’s a powerful mechanic that can be easily missed if you don’t explore every nook and cranny. Here’s what you need to do to unlock the ability to craft medicines in the Guardian’s Temple, as well as the next step to unlocking Celestial Medicines.

short quest for a character named Xu Dog. Once you reach the Guardian Temple at the Village Entrance in Sandgate:

  • Start crossing the wooden bridge and immediately jump off the right side of the bridge into the ravine below.
  • Head into the cave ahead and look for symbols on the rock to the left depicting a yaoguai fox.

Xu Dog will ask you to retrieve one of his recipes that was swallowed by a toad down below, and promises to reward you. The toad in question is a boss named Lan-Li-Guh-Bau, located at the bottom of the pond just behind Dog. If you fought Bau-Li-Guh-Lan in the Bamboo Grove in Chapter 1, his moveset is almost identical. The main difference is that this toad uses the Thunder Whip effect. If you’re having trouble, you can buy Anti-Shock Powder from the Temple Shop.

You can unlock the ability to craft medicines at Yellow Wind Ridge in Chapter 2 by completing a short quest for a character named Xu Dog. Once you reach the Guardian Temple at the Village Entrance in Sandgate:

  • Head into the cave ahead and look for symbols on the rock to the left depicting a yaoguai fox.

After defeating the boss and obtaining the recipe for the Evil Spirit Cure, return to the Dog and give him the recipe. He will grant you the ability to create medicines in the Temple of the Guardian and will say that he is going to look for the lost furnace. The recipes found will allow you to create various medicines in the Temple of the Guardian.

How to craft Celestial Medicines

Celestial Cures are much stronger than regular ones and provide your character with permanent bonuses such as increased health, mana, stamina, or resistance. You can unlock this feature after obtaining the items “Stone Strength” and “Tiger’s Sharpness” in Yellow Wind Ridge.

With these two items, you can open the secret entrance to the Temple of Hidden Tiger, where you will have to fight the Tiger Vanguard boss, by activating the faceless statue at the end of the boss arena. Go down the stairs underground, fight through the Sergeants, and you will reach the Temple of Hidden Tiger and the Temple of the Guardian in the basement.

There is a furnace near this place, and upon closer inspection, Xu Pes will appear and offer his services. From now on, you can return here to create Celestial Medicines using Mind Cores.

If you change your mind about the bonuses you want, you can use the “Reforge Medicines” option to redistribute the Celestial Medicines and change your buffs.
