If you use your smartphone often, the standard keyboard design will sooner or later become boring. Fortunately, on iOS, as well as on Android, you can easily change the theme. We tell you how to do it.
How to Change Keyboard Theme on iOS
The default iOS keyboard is great, but those who have made the switch from Android may find it awkward and not very customizable.
First, Gboard has swipes and is fully integrated with Google’s search engine. Second, the standard iPhone keyboard changes color depending on the app you’re using it in. With Gboard, you can set the same theme (like dark) for everything at once.
Another drawback of the iOS keyboard is the lack of ability to change the background. Therefore, to change the background and theme, you will have to download a third-party application. For example, Gboard.
To change the keyboard you need:
- Go to the App Store and download Gboard ;
- Then go to “Settings” and then to “General”;
- Then select the “Keyboard” item and then “Keyboards”;
- Switch to Gboard.
To change the theme, follow these steps:
- In Gboard settings, tap on “Themes”;
- Choose the one you like, download from the network or add your own image to create your own theme;
- Click “Done” and enjoy.
Of course, Gboard isn’t the only keyboard you can install on your iPhone. The best alternatives with deep customization options are below:
- SwiftKey is a keyboard from Microsoft with the same features as Gboard and a built-in Bing AI chatbot. Background settings are also present;
- Yandex Keyboard is the best domestic keyboard for iPhone with a set of GIFs on various topics. There is a built-in translator;
- Ginger Writer is another advanced keyboard, the interface and appearance of which can be customized. But all the functions are available only in the paid version.
How to Change Keyboard Theme on Android
On modern Android smartphones, the Gboard keyboard is the default. Therefore, you can change the background and theme faster. To do this:
- Go to “Settings”;
- Then “Additional settings”;
- After “Keyboard and Input Method”;
- Make sure that Gboard (or any other keyboard that supports changing background and theme) is selected in the settings.
Now let’s move on to setting up the theme and background.
Need to:
- Open any browser;
- Click on the gear icon at the top of the letters;
- In the settings, go to the “Theme” section;
- Choose the one you like from the available ones or download another one;
- Then click “Apply”.
That’s it. You have a new keyboard theme. You can also add any of your photos or screenshots to use as a theme.
To do this, it is enough:
- In the keyboard settings, click “My Themes”;
- Select a photo from the gallery;
- Scale the image and click Next;
- Decide on the brightness and “Done”.
Other keyboard apps for Android that we recommend include:
- Yandex Keyboard – works on Android no worse than on iPhone;
- Fleksy Keyboard is a keyboard with a very large collection of emoji, GIF, videos and stickers;
- AI Keyboard — AI Assistant — a keyboard with an unusual “space” design and built-in AI.
