Dragon’s Dogma 2 pleases with a variety of side quests and the variability of their implementation. Although one of the initial tasks in Vernworth to find a missing box for a random person does not look like something interesting, it is worth completing to immediately make sure of one truth – sometimes doing good deeds is very simple and very profitable. In addition, even the most insignificant assignments can be completed in different ways, and the choice of the method for achieving the goal can have different consequences.
How to start the quest “Painted Box”
Upon arrival in the capital of the kingdom of Vernworth, you will have a conversation with the captain of the local guard, Brant, after which you will be able to go into the city itself and first of all you will encounter a guard who is looking for some guy in a hat. If you are attentive enough, you will notice that the suspect is hiding in plain sight, standing right behind the guard. This will be your first meeting with Sven, who will ask you to find the box later, so it is better not to spoil the relationship with the future quest giver in advance and not to give him to the guard.
However, you will only be able to start the quest itself in a couple of days. Walking around the Trade Quarter, you will again find the troublemaker next to the shop in the place indicated on the map above.
He will be arguing about something with the merchant. If you start a conversation with Sven, the impudent young man will first ask to lend him 1000 gold, but if you try to find out more, you will find out that he is trying to buy back some painted box that is especially dear to him.
When you go to the merchant, you’ll find out that the item costs a little less, so you can buy it and just give it to Sven, saving 200 gold. However, that’s not all the benefit you’ll get for your kindness, since the quest has only just begun.
How to complete the Painted Box quest and get the reward
After 2-3 days, you can meet Sven again in the Trade Quarter, but this time sitting next to the fountain in the center of the market square. If you talk to him, the guy will tell you a little more about his difficult fate and finally thank you with a couple of hundred gold and a precious jasper stone, which, in principle, will already cover all the costs, but that’s not all.
After a couple of days, you can return to the same place by the fountain to chat with Sven again and find out that things are going well for him, as he will decide to repay you for your help again with a little more gold and a Ring of Accumulation, which slightly increases the limit of the carried weight, which is already quite generous, but that’s not all.
Returning in a couple of days, you will receive from Sven 500 gold, a Stone of Movement, and also (if you did not hand over the young man earlier and returned the box to him), the trousers and tunic of a courtier, which will be useful for the story quest “The Stolen Throne”.
Only after this the quest “Painted Box” can be considered complete, and as the main reward you will receive 900 experience points and 4000 gold.
