Once Humanprovides players with three weapon slots: a ranged weapon (rifles, machine guns, crossbows), a pistol, and a melee weapon. During the tutorial, players will be given a crossbow as their first ranged weapon, which shoots arrows that can be picked up and used infinitely.
Despite the crossbow’s potentially infinite ammo, it’s a very slow reloader and isn’t ideal for dealing with the larger enemies found throughout the world. Bullets fired from firearms can’t be picked up, but they still deliver significantly higher damage per second than the crossbow and many melee weapons. Playing with friends and using firearms can make even the toughest enemies easy prey.
How to Craft Weapons in Once Human
The first step in crafting a weapon is to head to the crafting tree in the Memetics menu and select the Essential Tools and Gear Workbench upgrades. The latter upgrade will allow players to build a Gear Workbench, where weapons are crafted. When interacting with the Gear Workbench, players can select which weapon they want to craft and what tier it is. Higher tier weapons will require rarer materials but will deal higher base damage.
With these Memetics upgrades, players will only be able to craft the basic pistol. Obtaining the Basic Gear and Long-Range Firepower upgrades will allow the crafting of almost all weapons, but only the basic versions. There are higher rarity weapon blueprints, but to craft them, players will have to explore the world and find blueprint fragments to create more powerful weapons.
In the crafting table menu, players can select the type and tier of weapon they want to craft. At the bottom of the weapon menu, the various parts that need to be crafted to assemble that weapon will be displayed. You will need materials to craft all three parts at once, as one part cannot be crafted and set aside – all three parts must be crafted at the same time to complete the weapon in the process. While firearms are useful tools, players should first ensure that they have a reliable source of food and water.
Where to get materials for crafting weapons in Once Human
Each weapon type and tier will require different crafting materials. The most common way to obtain crafting materials is by exploring and collecting junk from monster-infested structures scattered throughout the world. Junk includes random items such as cups, pistons, old weapon parts, and any other items that can be picked up while exploring. Although junk is randomly located, it can often be found in storage rooms and trash bins. Players will also need to obtain the Disassembly Techniques upgrade from the Infrastructure Memetic upgrade tree to build a Disassembly Station.
Take your scrap to the Scrap Station to break it down into different materials depending on what you’ve collected, then take them back to the Equipment Workbench to try to craft a weapon. Some weapons will also require forging materials like tin, copper, and iron, which can be mined and smelted in a furnace.
