Beginner’s Guide to Enshrouded. Tips for a Successful Start

2024 has just begun, but there are already hits for the year ahead. Enshrouded, which gathered 160 thousand gamers at its peak, is one of them. It is a survival game with RPG elements, where there is an extensive leveling tree, many quests and a large world strewn with points of interest. But how to survive in Enshrouded?

A comfortable base is the key to success

The game has a comfort mechanic. If you rest in a place with a good bed, a pleasant interior and a fireplace, you will get a bonus to stamina. Already at the 25th comfort level, the hero will increase stamina by 275% for a long time!

To improve the conditions, build a decent house and place a table, carpet, chandelier in it. Just keep in mind that bonuses from one category do not add up. Are there 10 bathtubs in the house? In vain, only one brings comfort points.

Move into the house immediately

Don’t want to bother with construction? Then immediately find a decent house on the map and put a base there. This way, you will get a serious increase in comfort from the beginning of the game.

Create a hook and glider

Before your first forays, craft a hook and a glider at the workbench. These things will make life much easier: the hook will help you cross a chasm or get to an archer, the glider will help you quickly fly to a point of interest. You will need a swaddled tree for crafting. Just cut down any tree in the Shroud zone and get the material.

Read every note

There are many notes scattered around the world – be sure to read each one. Not only do they reveal lore, but they also point to points of interest with special loot. For example, after learning a tragic story about love and loss, you will find a crypt and take out endless ammunition for the staff.

Pin crafting tasks in the workshop

Enshrouded is full of buildings and items that you can’t craft right now. To keep track of a task, open the workshop menu and pin it. That way, you’ll always know what materials you’re missing.

Stock up on food and water

Food restores health and provides impressive buffs like an increased HP bar. So pick berries, fry meat, cook corn – all this will come in handy during a sortie.

Also stock up on water, it gives a boost to stamina. The main source of moisture is wells, which are located in almost every settlement.

Carry master keys

Always keep a couple of lockpicks on you, because the open world is full of locked chests with gold, medicine and valuable equipment. Lockpicks are made by the blacksmith, whom you will find at the beginning of the game. To work, he will need a piece of scrap metal.

Prepare for a trip to the Veil

When the hero enters the Shroud, a resistance bar will appear on the screen. When it runs out, the adventurer will die. To extend the time spent in the danger zone, use a Shroud Survival Vial. Just do this before entering the danger zone, otherwise the effect will not work.

Beware of the Red Veil

On your way you will encounter a red Shroud. Don’t even think about going into it – you will die in a few moments. The zone will be unlocked when you upgrade the Flame at the base and increase your resistance.

Upgrade only rare equipment

Clubs, staves and bows can be upgraded: to do this, bring a blacksmith to the base and stock up on runes. But only legendary or at least epic items should be upgraded. Such equipment does not lose its relevance for a long time – unlike low-quality ones.

Don’t count on stealth

The skill tree has perks dedicated to stealth. They will teach the hero to inflict high damage with hidden strikes. The problem is that there are few opportunities to pull this off: enemies actively look around and walk in pairs, and the character sneaks too slowly. As a result, investing in stealth seems like a stupid idea – it’s better to strengthen the strike and chop everyone in an open fight.

Do not occupy the hotbar with a bow and staff

There are two hotbar strips in the game, but even they are often not enough. After all, you need to place a sword, pickaxe, axe, potions, food there. But you shouldn’t throw ranged weapons in the hotbar.

Open the Character tab and place the bow or staff in the appropriate slot. Now the hero will get the weapon when pressing the right mouse button, even if it is just lying in the inventory.

Repair equipment in enemy camps

All equipment such as a club, a pickaxe and a torch will gradually break. To repair it, you don’t have to go back to the workbench at the base. It’s enough to find a large enemy camp – there will probably be repair tools there.

Use a pickaxe to climb to a higher level

Enshrouded has a terraforming mechanic. The hero can break any rock, dig a tunnel, break through a wall. This will come in handy when you get to a point of interest and realize that the desired place is on a hill that is inaccessible. In this case, get a pickaxe and make something like a ladder in the rock.

Remember the location of resources

For successful development you will need a lot of salt, silicon, clay. Not all resources are near the base, so put the appropriate marks on the map when you find deposits in the open world.

Create a magic chest quickly

Initially, you can only craft from the materials in your inventory. Everything will change when you get to a special crypt and find a carpenter there.

The carpenter will make a magic chest. The things that are in it will be available throughout the base. The only thing is that you will still have to throw materials into the furnace and other equipment manually.

Enlarge your backpack

There’s never enough space in your backpack, so be prepared to throw away logs, rocks, and mushrooms when you stumble upon a deposit of useful materials. The problem will be solved by the huntress waiting in the crypt.
