Agramonte Cemetery. Before 1887 , in the town of Agramante there was no place that was destined to bury the deceased of the locality, which was used by the Catholic Church in its favor. It is precisely in that year when the Agramonte Cemetery was created with the purpose of giving free burial to the people of Camagüey.

In the year 1887 , the Mayor of the town, Lorenzo Acha Ortiz, a native of Navarra, Spain , decided to found said cemetery based on the inhabitants of the area.

For the construction of this cemetery, it was necessary to confront the Clergy, that is, gentlemen who belonged to the Catholic Church , which was favored at that time with wakes since they charged for the burials of the deceased.

In spite of the sources of confrontation with the Clergy, the support of the commerce and the settlers of the surroundings was received, in addition carnivals and festivals were developed with the noble purpose of raising money for such a benevolent work. Finally, a consensus was reached among all and the Agramonte Cemetery was built.
