Everyone knows from childhood that you need to get enough sleep. But few people know that lack of sleep can lead to really unpleasant consequences.
Excess weight
Many scientists around the world have confirmed the connection between lack of sleep and overeating. And all because lack of sleep causes a disruption in the production of appetite hormones – leptin and ghrelin. This leads to the fact that a person has to replenish the calories that he allegedly did not receive.
Wrinkles
A lack of melatonin, the sleep hormone, leads to a deterioration in the skin. Its peak production occurs at two o’clock in the morning, so those who go to bed later are deprived of the natural opportunity to renew skin cells. This leads to the formation of wrinkles: the skin looks older and duller.
Decreased libido
Those who sleep little do not want to make love at all. It is all about banal fatigue, which prevents them from thinking about anything other than sleep. Scientists believe that this problem primarily concerns women.
Increased risk of cancer
Doctors have found that lack of sleep can cause colon cancer. If you don’t get the required eight hours of sleep, the body’s defenses are reduced, so you can die from anything in such a situation.
Increased anxiety
With regular sleep deprivation, the brain gets tired of generating and controlling emotions, which increases irritability and anxiety. Research has shown that chronic sleep deprivation provokes the development of anxiety disorders.
