Xiangli Yao from Wuthering Waves – Character Guide and Build

In update 1.2, for the main event of the patch, we will receive an event legendary in Wuthering Waves for free . The developers give all players Xiangli Yao, a new Electro damage dealer. And we will talk about what equipment is best for him in our article.

About the character

Xiangli Yao works as a chief researcher at Huaxu Academy, which is located in Jinzhou. He is a leading expert in the study of automatic mechanics, even his skills are inspired by various elements of mechanisms. Xiangli Yao is quite young by other scientists, but he has gained recognition among his colleagues.

In combat, he uses the power of Electro and fights with gloves. Xiangli Yao’s attacks are designed for close combat, so he may need a healer in his pack.

How to get

Xiangli Yao’s banner starts in the second half of update 1.2 – from September 7. At the same time, his signature weapon banner starts. And you can get the hero for free for the main event of the patch, which also starts on September 7.

Recommended stats

Since our scientist is a primary damage dealer, it is very important for him to collect good stats. Attack power bonuses, elemental damage, and crits are especially important. In the lower stats, you also need to find energy recovery to quickly accumulate the ult.

Forever Seeking	Forte Circuit / Resonance Scale / Energy	Can accumulate up to 100 Capacity per battle by using basic attacks or E. The gauge does not fill during Intuition and is replaced by Performance Capacity. Performance Capacity : Xiangli Yao can have up to 5 Health charges and gains Health in several ways: ·         1 unit for the first hit of Pivot – Impale attack; ·         2 units for the second and third hits of Pivot – Impale; ·         2 units for each activation of Divergence; ·         3 units per air attack Revamp during Intuition. Upon reaching 100 Capacity, E is replaced with Decipher , which when activated deals damage that is considered an ult. Upon receiving 5 charges of the Performance Capacity bar, the E-bar is replaced with Law of Reigns and is strengthened. After activating Law of Reigns or Divergence, using a basic attack will perform an airborne Revamp attack .
Principle	Intro Skill / Intro kick	Attacks the target with Electro damage upon appearing on the battlefield.
Chain Rule	Outro Skill / Outro strike	When the next character attacks the target with a basic attack, Xiangli Yao will attack along with them, dealing Electro damage. This effect can occur once every 2 seconds, up to 3 times.

Priority of pumping

The resonator deals most of its damage using the resonance scale, so it’s worth upgrading it first. It’s also important to raise the ult levels, as this is the only way to activate Intuition. We level up the E along with the ult.

We improve the basic attack right after, since Xiangli Yao is a damage dealer and will be on the field often. Lastly, we pump Intro and Outro attacks, but if you want the character to damage “from the pocket”, then you can pay more attention to Outro.

Weapons for Xiangli Yao

When hitting with a basic attack, the wearer receives a 10-20% bonus to the damage of the ult for 8 seconds.	A good weapon from the standard pool of legendaries. Works on Xiangli Yao without problems and can be suitable for other characters on the account. Allows you to accumulate the ult faster.
Hollow Mirage	6.8–30.3% attack power	After activating the ult, grants 3 stacks of Iron Armor. Each of them increases the wearer’s attack power and defense by 3-5%. Taking damage consumes 1 stack.	A good budget option, which at maximum pumping gives 45% of the attack power to the wearer, which directly affects the damage.
Gauntlets#21D	11.5–51.8% energy recovery	When performing dashes and dodges, the wearer gains 8-16% attack power. Counterattack damage is also increased by 50-100% for 8 seconds. After activating a counterattack, the resonator restores 5-10% HP every 6 seconds.	Not the best option, but it helps you build up your ult faster and gives you a good attack boost. HP recovery is also useful if you don’t have a healer in your squad.

Which Echo to install?

 

Void Thunder

The best set would be a 5-piece Void Thunder combo. It gives 10% Electro damage for 2 pieces, and for 5 pieces we get another 15% element bonus after performing a heavy attack or E-shka. The effect of 5 Echoes stacks 2 times and lasts 15 seconds.

On the first slot we put the Echo of the boss Thundering Mephis. When activated, it deals 6 hits of Electro damage and gives a 12% element bonus to the wearer, and also increases the damage of his ult by 12%. 

Lingering Tunes

If you have good stats on the Lingering Tunes set, you can put it on too. For 2 parts we will get 10% attack power, and 5 parts will buff the resonator by 5% attack every 1.5 seconds (up to 20% inclusive), plus will give 60% to Outro damage, which is useful for Xiangli Yao if you have pumped this skill. 

In this case, we put the Mech Abomination boss on the first slot. This way we get a lot of small mechs that will hurt enemies and a 12% bonus to attack power for 15 seconds. 

2+2 combo

If you don’t have full sets, make a combination of 2 parts of Void Thunder and Lingering Tunes. This will give you 10% to attack power and Electro damage. And it’s better to put Thundering Mephis on the first slot.

Commands for Xiangli Yao

There aren’t that many teams you can put together for the scientist. It’s all about his mechanics. For example, Sanhua and Mortefi, who are often placed with other DDs, won’t do much for Xiangli Yao. Therefore, the best option for the pack would be a good healer and a support DD who can attack together with the main damage dealer.
