Allowing more data in 5G, the key to a better experience
As Apple indicates in this support document (via MacRumors ), from now on it will be possible to download software updates through the 5G network . Before starting, however, it is necessary that we activate the corresponding option within the Settings app .
- We open the Settingsapp on our iPhone.
- We enter Mobile Data.
- We tap on Mobile data options.
- We enter data mode.
- We activate Allow more data in 5G.
This setting allows applications to use more data when we are connected to a 5G network . According to Apple, this opens the doors to several advantages:
Allow more data in 5G: Allows higher data usage functions for applications and system tasks. These include higher-quality FaceTime, high-definition content on Apple TV, songs and videos from Apple Music, and iOS updates via mobile.
This setting also allows third-party applications to use more mobile data to improve the experience. This is the default setting with some unlimited data plans, depending on the carrier. This setting uses more mobile data.
The message is clear. With this option activated, the data usage limits of our iPhone are significantly extended allowing uses that were not available until now. As we have been able to read one of them is to download the iOS updates. To do this, it is enough that we are in an area with 5G coverage and that we enter Settings > General > Software Update to download and install the update.
