Windows 10 hides a new Control Panel that you will see soon

Windows 10, although it is constantly evolving, has many elements inherited from older versions of the OS, elements that are also useful and necessary for many users. The Control Panel and Administrative Tools are two examples of this. These sections include all kinds of tools necessary to configure and optimize the PC at an advanced level. Microsoft wants to do away with it for being outdated and old items, although it cannot leave users without these tools. And for this reason, the company is working on a kind of new Control Panel called ” Windows Tools “.

Build 21354, the latest version available to Insider users, has brought a lot of changes, improvements and news spread throughout the system. And, although the control panel is still present in the OS, Microsoft has removed an important element of it: the administrative tools. Within this panel we could find a series of shortcuts to configure Windows and perform different administrative tasks.

However, in return, Microsoft has included a new element in the operating system that will be the successor to the previous one: Windows Tools.

Windows Tools, this is the new Windows 10 Control Panel

This new section, which has not yet received a name in Spanish, aims to become the successor to the control panel and all the other sections of administrative elements found throughout the operating system. For now, within this panel we can find the shortcuts that, until now, were found in other sections of the start menu, such as Windows system tools , accessories or PowerShell, among others.

By clicking on Windows Tools we can see a new window with 39 items that were previously included directly in the start menu. For example, we can see the quick assistance, the registry editor, CMD, PowerShell and the task scheduler, among other elements.

This new panel can be found directly in the start menu. We can also run it from CMD with the command «control admintools», and even create a shortcut to it ourselves with the following code:

explorer.exe shell ::: {D20EA4E1-3957-11d2-A40B-0C5020524153}

We remember that we must have the latest Insider version to be able to see this new panel.

The Control Panel will be divided between Windows Tools and Settings

Microsoft has been trying to kill this panel for a long time. However, given the advanced configuration tools that have been clustered over time, it is a complicated task. Since 2015, when the operating system arrived, many of the configuration tools from this panel have been carried over to Windows Settings. In addition, in the newer versions of Windows 10, if we try to enter several Control Panel options, we are taken directly to the corresponding tool in the Settings menu . We can even see how the most veteran tools, such as the disk manager, have been carried into this new Configuration menu as a modern tool.

Those responsible for Microsoft invite users to send them comments with the tools that they believe are still exclusive to this panel and have not been taken to the Configuration panel to continue with the migration. Soon, the Control Panel will be history , for better or for worse.
