Like any technically complex product, a tablet may not turn on for a number of reasons. In this article, we will consider the main ones and give advice on troubleshooting.
Broken power button
One of the most common reasons why a tablet won’t turn on. An unfortunate fall or frequent use of the Power button often causes it to sink, wobble, be hard to press, or dangle freely. In this case, you must either disassemble the device yourself and repair the damaged contact, or contact a service center.
Charging problems
Problems with switching on may be observed if the battery is dead and the charger does not work for some reason. First of all, you should inspect the cable and connector on the device. If everything is OK with them, then check the functionality of the charger on another gadget, and also try charging the tablet using a different adapter and cable. Most often, everything is solved by buying a new charger.
Battery failure
The tablet’s reluctance to turn on may also be due to a faulty battery. They “spoil” due to poor operating conditions or simply exhaust their resource. It is best to check this point at a service center, since it is necessary to disassemble the case and insert a new part.
Water getting on the microcircuits
If liquid gets on the internal boards, the tablet will obviously “feel worse”. In this case, the contacts will oxidize, and the circuit will overheat, short-circuit and burn out. It is necessary to turn it off as quickly as possible, disassemble it and let it dry. If after this it does not turn on, then you will have to contact repairmen.
Broken display
Sometimes there are situations when the device itself works fine, but the screen does not light up. An inexperienced user thinks that the gadget does not turn on. Check if the back cover is heating up and if there is a slight noise coming from it. If so, then either the contacts responsible for the image output have come off, or the matrix is damaged, or the device is infected with viruses. And again, it is better to entrust such a complex repair to specialists.
System failure
If the tablet has a system failure and cannot turn on, then the problem is usually solved by rebooting. To do this, simply press and hold the power button for about 10-15 seconds. Some models have a small hole with the inscription Reset. Inside there is a reset button, which is pressed with a special key or paper clip.
Also, in case of a software failure, the device can be reset to factory settings. This is done by pressing a special combination of buttons, which differ depending on the model. On most devices, these are the power and volume up buttons, although other options are possible.
In the menu that opens, select the item related to deleting data. Usually, such tabs are called Wipe Data, Factory Reset, or Format System. All that remains is to tap on them and confirm the action. The main thing is to remove the flash drive and SIM card in advance, since otherwise all data from them will be erased.
Virus infection
The functionality of the gadget, including the ability to turn on normally, is also disrupted due to the actions of malicious viruses. Here you should install a good antivirus, conduct a full scan of all folders and delete all questionable files.
Sleep mode
An inexperienced user may accidentally activate the “Sleep Mode” and then experience difficulties with switching to the normal state or, even worse, the gadget just froze at that moment. In any case, you need to connect the tablet to the charger and turn it on after about an hour. And to avoid such incidents in the future, it is better to disable this mode in the settings.
Out of memory
Problems with turning on the device may occur due to a lack of free memory. To make sure of this, just remove the card and reboot it. If the device turns on, then delete all unnecessary applications, games, videos, photos and other heavy files. If not, then the way to you is to the service center.
Burnt out processor or memory
If the tablet is often subjected to increased load and gets very hot, then there is a high risk that one day its processor will simply burn out. This is especially true for cheap models that do not have a cooling system. In this case, only repairs at a service center will help.
The memory drive can also burn out, taking with it all the internal software. Because of this, the device will simply have nothing to turn on. Everything is fixed in the same way, by replacing the part with specialists.
nappropriate firmware
Installing custom firmware or incorrect installation of system files can result in pressing the power button having no effect. The device will effectively become a useless “brick” that does not respond to any manipulation.
In this case, it is advisable to reinstall the official firmware as soon as possible. The safest way to do this is at a service center. If you do it yourself, there is a high risk of damaging the launch menu. After this, there is no way to restore the gadget.
