Why choose Android Stock

Android stock: the world of technology is flooded with Android with all its devices, but surely many users will be wondering what is Android Stock?

Google Pixel 4A 5G and Pixel 5 are the latest smartphones to hit the market with Android Stock

Android Stock this unknown

Over the years Nexus devices, Google Play Edition smartphones and endless Google Pixels have alternated to offer the Android Stock experience, but what does this definition mean? With the term “Android Stock”, introduced with the first Google devices, we mean the original “factory” version of the operating system made by Google .

The concept and definition of what is Android Stock must be specified and explained starting from correctly defining what Android is .

For most of us, Android is the operating system of smartphones and tablets , as well as TVs, Chromebooks , consoles and some cameras. But more precisely, Android is a Linux-based kernel , with libraries and APIs written in C language to which is added an application framework that also includes libraries compatible with the Java language . These libraries are based on Apache Harmony , and allow the software to run on the Dalvik virtual machine , using the Dalvik dex code translated from Java bytecode. Technically, Android is not a Linux distribution, because it does not natively support the full set of GNU tools and libraries, although many people, mistakenly, claim that Android is indeed a Linux distribution.

For the layman’s world, however, Android is simply an open-source operating system designed to be extensible to multiple types of devices , the various uses seen over the years confirm this, and which allows simple application development .

Now let’s see what Android Stock is and what its history is

One of the old stock Android interfaces used on Nexus smartphones

Android was originally born as a software and interface for digital cameras , and then evolved to become a complete and extremely varied software suite that embraces all the most famous products and technological producers: Google, Samsung, OnePlus, HTC, Xiaomi , Huawei, Sony and all the others.

It has happened to everyone at least once, even to the most avid and loyal Apple users, to hold a smartphone or tablet with an Android operating system in their hands. And surely even Apple users will have envied its features and functionality.

If, on the other hand, you are an Android user, you will surely have appreciated the features of this fantastic operating system. Many of you will also have had the opportunity to notice the different custom interfaces that are created by the various brands, the most famous are certainly OneUI from Samsung , the MIUI from Xiaomi and the Oxygen from OnePlus , all versions that differ from the stock version used by the Google Pixels. for graphics, features and pre-installed applications.

Android fans and IT enthusiasts will surely have dug deeper until they discover the world of modding and will surely know the many possibilities of modification, the roms, the kernels and will be familiar with flash and wipe.

One of the very first versions of Android Stock

The Android system was born in 2008 with a first immature version, incomplete, full of bugs and small and big problems. Over the years the evolution and growth of the operating system has been crazy up to the Android 11 version which is being released on many devices around this time. The know of Google has become stable, performing and innovative over time and has been able to conquer most of the smartphone market and the hearts of many users and enthusiasts .

Android Stock is in fact the version of Android that we find on all Pixel series smartphones , and that we find on Android One smartphones and that we have seen in the past on Nexus and Google Play Edition smartphones, made directly by Google and without any customization : a basic version, without too many frills and with pre-installed only the applications essential for the correct functioning of the device. A software model on which all manufacturers can then make their own changes freely, being able to give space to customizations of the interface and to the suite of applications and functions available from the first start-up.

An alternative very similar to the Android Stock experience is that of OnePlus smartphones . These devices are equipped with the version of Android customized with Oxygen OS which remains almost identical to the version made by Google for its Pixel and to which some applications and the possibility of more graphic customization are added. However, the general cleaning of the system and the minimal cleaning of the software remain unchanged.

Why choose Android Stock

Google Pixel 4 with Android Stock

Over the years I have been lucky enough to be able to try practically all versions of Android customized by various manufacturers and I have been able to witness the natural evolution and continuous improvement of the operating system. After so many years and so many smartphones tested, I still think the versions of Android Stock are simply better today , not so much because they are made directly by mom Google, but because they put a clean, minimal and very fast operating system in our hands .

In addition to the cleanliness of the graphics, absolutely free of unnecessary aesthetic frills, there are many advantages of the version used by Google on its smartphones. The absence of useless bloatware is appreciable : bloatware are applications that are pre-installed on many smartphones from various manufacturers and that cannot be completely removed from the smartphone. The presence of these applications is criticized by many users (including myself): they unnecessarily occupy memory and could be easily installed by those who feel the need thanks to the Play Store. Last point in favor is the security of updates over time, usually Android One and Stock smartphones have updates guaranteed for at least two years for major releases of Android and three years for security patches.

Android Stock is, in my humble opinion, the best version of Android because it allows you to fully enjoy your smartphone , thanks to a minimal, clean and rewarding experience.
