Where to find Dondons in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Amongst the many new and returning items and creatures in Tears of the Kingdom, players will be forgiven for missing out on Dondons entirely. The new creature is as mysterious as it is wonderful, but what do we know about Dondons and where they are found in Zelda: TOTK?

How to find Dondons in TOTK

The Dondon is a new creature for the 2023 Zelda installment, more comparable to a hippo, rhino, or bison. They are also incredibly rare, and it is quite possible for Tears of the Kingdom players to complete their entire game without finding them.

However, if you want to find them, they spawn at a fixed location. Specifically, there is a small group of Dondons that keep close to the Lakeside Stable. The coordinates of this herd are: 1543, -3355, 0058.

In addition to being difficult to locate, the Dondons are a mystery because they don’t seem to do…much. If players try to harm them, the Dondons simply walk away and vocalize their disgust at being bothered.

The only real purpose they serve is to produce gems for players. He simply drops a Glow Stone in front of a Dondon, watches as he eats it, and returns a bit later. The creature will have excreted a gem of some kind, with amber, topaz, sapphire, ruby, and opal as possible rewards. The diamonds do not appear to be available through Dondon’s digestive system.

Its in-game description is as follows: A new species of four-legged beast found in the southern regions. So far, only five of these creatures have been seen in Hyrule. His diet is a mystery. But what is known is that they are easily scared and their giant horns can be very dangerous.

It will be interesting to see if the secrets of the great beasts are ever revealed, either through undiscovered TOTK easter eggs or in a future Zelda installment.

That’s all about where to find Dondons in Tears of the Kingdom.
