Are you not a fan of headphones and prefer to listen to your favorite music through your iPhone speakers? Have you ever heard the sound from your smartphone suddenly stop working or not sound as it should? In today’s article, we will look at the most common problems that can occur when playing audio on the iPhone and their possible solutions.
What exactly is the problem?
If you notice sound issues on your iPhone, the first thing you need to do is determine what the problem is. Try connecting a pair of headphones to your smartphone. Do they play sound without any issues? If so, the problem may be with the speakers. Tap Settings -> Sounds & Haptics (or Sound) and make sure “Change with buttons” is enabled – if so, you can adjust the volume on your iPhone with the side buttons. Now try playing back the content you were playing, turn up the volume with the side buttons and see if sound comes out of the speakers. If so, congratulations – your iPhone speakers are working as they should.
iPhone speakers not working
If your iPhone speaker failed to work in the previous step, there are a few more steps to take. Some of them are not perfect — like making sure you haven’t muted your iPhone with the side scroll button. Also check that it’s not connected to another device, like Bluetooth headphones — you can find this in Settings -> Bluetooth, or in Control Center after long-pressing the Bluetooth connection symbol. Also, make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed on your iPhone. A fairly easy step is to perform a reset — on an iPhone 8 and later, quickly press the Volume Up button, then the Volume Down button, then hold the Power button until the Apple logo appears on the screen.
Caller is difficult to hear during a call
Are you having trouble hearing the other party during a classic phone call or a FaceTime or WhatsApp voice call? During the phone call itself, there is not much room for finding complicated workaround procedures. A quick and effective solution is to switch the sound to the speaker. Hold the phone away from your ear so that the screen lights up. Tap the round icon with the microphone, and you can talk to the person without having to hold the phone to your ear. At the same time, you will hear the other party’s voice a little louder.
The speaker is dirty
Dirty speakers are every iPhone owner’s nightmare, but it’s certainly not an unsolvable problem that you should go to a service center right away under any circumstances. But definitely try to keep your Apple smartphone speakers as clean as possible. Avoid violence, syringes, toothpicks, and even compressed air, and clean your iPhone speakers carefully using a soft, thin, dry, and clean brush. Some users don’t tolerate a single-bundle toothbrush. You can then clean the speakers carefully using a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with a cleaner designed for cleaning electronic devices.
Water enters the speaker
Newer iPhones are somewhat water-resistant, but water damage is not covered under Apple’s warranty. If water gets inside your iPhone’s speakers, place the phone with the speakers facing down at a 45° angle, and place the phone under an absorbent cloth. Gently tap the phone and wait for the water to start dripping from the speakers. You can also help remove the water with an app. It’s called Sonik , you can download it for free from the App Store, and it can remove water from your iPhone’s speakers with sound.
