Alexa is one of the most used assistants, along with Google Assistant. In the case of having an Amazon Echo device, it is possible that an orange light appears on the speaker and we do not know what it means.
When the light ring or the LED glows orange, it means that we have a notification of an Amazon order close to its delivery , since we can even ask Alexa when our purchases are expected to arrive.
Now, although it looks orange, Amazon considers that the color of Alexa notifications is actually yellow . In fact, the light on the Echo has another “more orange” hue, which is displayed during initial device setup or in the event of a WiFi failure.
How to create routines in Google Assistant and Alexa
Smart speakers with Alexa are usually purchased primarily through Amazon itself, as few third-party distributors sell their products.
They require to have an associated Amazon account, either the one that made the purchase (it comes preconfigured) or a different one. In this way, Alexa will know the orders we place on the platform, and by means of the orange / yellow light it will notify us of their arrival.
The light can also be an Internet connection problem , but in that case, asking Alexa anything will tell us that there is an error.
How to eliminate orange light?
To eliminate the orange / yellow light, we just have to say: “Alexa, are there notifications?” , then it will indicate the associated information and turn off the light ring. We must be careful, because if we say “Alexa, is there something pending?” You will think we want to review the calendar.
On the other hand, if we are really facing the orange light that indicates a connection problem , through the Alexa app we will carry out the following steps:
- We open the Alexa app.
- Select the “Devices” section at the bottom right :
- We choose the Echo device that suffers from problems from those that we have configured:
- Let’s go to the exact device of the room:
- Click on “WiFi Network” and on the “Change” button :
- We select another WiFi network , or click on forget password and re- enter the wireless network key .
If we have done this process, the connectivity problems should be solved, although it will not hurt to unplug and plug the Amazon Echo again, so that it restarts.
In case Alexa still does not work, it would be a good idea to check the operation of the WiFi and the Internet connection from another computer, in case the failure is foreign to the Amazon speaker.
If we get the light when we turn on the speaker and then it disappears , it is a normal process , since it shows the error until it manages to connect to the network. This problem can also be indicated by the same circular red LED.
Other lights appear to me, what do they mean?
Usually 5 types of lights appear in Amazon speakers, one of them is orange, which we have already talked about throughout the article, but let’s see what the rest of them mean:
- Blue : Alexa is listening to our request, a lighter shade of blue points towards the person speaking.
- Solid red : a common error message when the Amazon Alexa devices are turned on, but it can also mean that we have turned off the microphone or the camera and we will have to press the button again to activate it.
- Flashing yellow : notification message, which can sometimes appear orange, depending on the speaker model and the surrounding lighting.
- Purple : the do not disturb function is activated, the purple light appears when we go to Alexa.
