This idea was gradually adapted and improved, until it became the basis for the functioning of the internet as we know it. Thanks to the internet, today we can interact with other people and share information, as well as access the information available.

All this was made possible thanks to the use of network typology, through these we can know all the connections that our network has . It is used mainly to know the faults that may exist in some network design.

In a network typology, all the connections that an interconnected network system has are reflected. Depending on your design, we may notice any imperfection or if something goes wrong in the design.

Through network topologies, different connection structures between devices can be designed . In this way it is possible to share data between each of them, in a fluid way and without delays.

What are network topologies for?

Thanks to network topologies, today we can share information as we do, in a very practical way. Thanks to this ingenious method, it is possible to connect with other computers and share information in real time .

At the beginning, network topologies with very simple designs were used, which did work but generally became congested. This was due to the data traffic that circulated through the design of the network.

This traffic was not much actually, but as the design of the network topologies it was not very good. As a consequence, with several computers sharing data at the same time, the process would slow down.

What are the types of network topologies?

The different types of network topologies are classified according to their design and regarding the interconnections between the computers.

One of the first designs in network topologies that were used were bus network topologies . This is basically a single wire from which the terminals for each computer are derived.

When a message is sent from one of the computers, that message reaches all the computers connected to the network, but can only be seen by the computer to which it was sent. This network design resulted in the network being saturated.

Another is the ring type topology , in this design all the components of the network are connected in a circular way. The inconvenience is that if any of the computers fails, the information can no longer be transmitted.

In the star type topology , all the components that make up the network are connected to a central server, which is responsible for sending the information to the computer that requires it.

This design is the same as that used by the current internet network, with the difference that the server is connected to another server that in turn connects to other computers. This makes data transit lighter.

Among other types of connections that are also recurrent, we can find, tree- type topology, mesh- type topology, connected type topology, hybrid type topology . These are the most used.
