Bypass slowdown on PC (Windows, macOS)

First, let’s look at possible solutions to the problem of YouTube interruptions on your computer. It’s worth noting that not all of them may be effective due to differences in Internet providers, computer specifications, and other factors. The editors are not responsible for the safety of your data or the quality of your devices if you decide to use the methods described below.

Method #1 (GoodbyeDPI)

  1. Download GoodbyeDPI from GitHub
  2. Unzip the downloaded archive
  3. Run the file 1_russia_blacklist.cmd. If the file cannot be opened, try running it as administrator
  4. After that, you need to disable the TLS 1.3 hybridized Kyber support protocol in your browser. To do this, you need to enter the following in the address country: Google Chrome — chrome://flags, Opera, Vivaldi, Yandex Browser, Edge — browser://flags, Brave — brave://flags, Ulaa — ulaa://flags, Mozilla Firefox — about:config
  5. Click on the Default (or Enabled) button and select the Disabled option
  6. Restart your browser.

Method #2 (Experimental QUIC protocol) is also suitable for Android

If you were unable to “fix” YouTube, use the second, simpler option. Note that this method is also applicable to Android devices.

  1. In the address bar of your browser, write the following: for Google Chrome — chrome://flags, for Opera, Vivaldi, Yandex Browser, Edge — browser://flags, for Brave — brave://flags, for Ulaa — ulaa://flags, for Mozilla Firefox — about:config
  2. Find Experimental QUIC protocol
  3. Click on the Default (or Enabled) button and select the Disabled option
  4. Restart your browser.

Method #3 (Discord)

For the third method of reviving YouTube, you will need Discord.

  1. Install Discord if you don’t have it and sign up
  2. Paste a YouTube video link into any chat line
  3. The video will be displayed in a small window that can be expanded to full screen.

Method #4 (AdGuard)

The fourth method requires the AdGuard utility. However, this solution may not be available in all browsers.

  1. Install AdGuard on your browser
  2. In the settings, click on the “Tracking protection” section
  3. Select the “DPI Protection” option.

Method for macOS

For macOS, there is a separate way to avoid YouTube slowdown.

  1. Install the Terminal application and then launch it;
  2. In the window that appears, enter the following commands:
  3. curl -fsSL https://raw.githubusercontent.com/xvzc/SpoofDPI/main/install.sh | bash -s darwin-amd64
  4. export PATH=$PATH:~/.spoof-dpi/bin
  5. spoof-dpi3
  6. If that doesn’t help, try replacing the last command with spoof-dpi –enable-doh –window-size 0.

Bypass slowdown on mobile devices (iOS, Android)

Problems with YouTube also affected smartphone and tablet users. But even here, craftsmen managed to find ways to restore the service to its usual operation.

Fixing Slowdown on Android

We have already considered one of the methods (disabling Experimental QUIC protocol). But there is another way to remove the slowdown on Android.

Setting ByeDPI

Let’s move straight to the instructions for this simple option.

  1. Download ByeDPI from GitHub;
  2. Go to the application and click on the Connect button.

Fixing Slowdowns on iOS

Slow YouTube has not bypassed iPhone and iPad users. But there is a possible solution to this problem for them too. However, for now this function is available for YouTube in the Safari browser.

Enabling HTTP/3 in Safari

  1. Go to Settings and go to the Safari tab
  2. Scroll down the page to the Add-ons tab.
  3. Click on the Experimental Features tab
  4. Enable HTTP/3.
