WATER, PRECIOUS ALLIED AGAINST HEADACHE

Everyone, at least once in their life, has had to face it … let’s talk about headaches , the number one enemy of serenity and concentration.

It is, in fact, one of the most common ailments in the world, and comes in various forms and modalities – from acute and penetrating headaches to dull headache that pervades the whole head, from pain in the temples to annoying sinusitis affecting the forehead and nose.

Often the causes of this annoyance are manifold and difficult to identify with certainty. Stress, sedentariness, the many hours spent in front of the PC screen or carrying out concentration activities are all triggering factors that can give rise to this discomfort, and often require the use of medicines to run for cover.

There is a particular headache, however, that could be resolved – or even completely avoided – with a couple of precautions and without necessarily resorting to the use of drugs. It’s about dehydration headache !

HOW TO AVOID HEADACHE FROM DEHYDRATION

The right amount of water is essential for living beings, because it guarantees the maximum efficiency of the organs keeping them functional and reactive. Our brain is a striking example: in the absence of fluids, in fact, it is not uncommon to feel the annoying pain sensation typical of headaches. However, although dehydration is a fairly common origin of headaches, it is a factor that is often overlooked.

Insufficient hydration also sometimes presents prolonged symptoms, which could lead to believe that you suffer from recurrent migraines. Very often, however, this is not the case, and rehydrating the body is sufficient to make the head pain disappear quickly and without taking any type of medication . Did you know, for example, that often the water ingested to take a drug acts on the headache even before the active ingredient has taken effect?

Therefore, the phenomenon of dehydration must be avoided. But what are its triggers? Sweating is the major cause of dehydration, but the concentration effort required by technical work or study should not be underestimated . Some tasks and jobs then, are so demanding that they totally absorb us, so much so that we even forget we are thirsty. This is also why at the end of a long day, especially for those who study or work in smart working, the annoying headache occurs.

We must not forget, however, that our body needs to take approximately 2l of water per day to maintain maximum efficiency. And this number can grow dramatically in case of intense physical activity: for professional athletes, for example, there is even talk of 6l per day!

THE IMPORTANCE OF PROPER HYDRATION

In addition to relieving headaches, drinking the right amount of water regulates mood, improves memory and concentration, allows better physical performance and increases muscle endurance. It is important to hydrate enough, therefore, but even more important is to do it regularly: the ideal is a nice full glass every two hours .

Even water-rich foods, such as fresh fruit and vegetables, are good options for a rehydrating and refreshing snack (or mid-morning snack!). If the temperatures allow it, then, the hot tea and herbal teas moisturize the body and relax the muscles, offering a small break from daily stress that allows to relieve headaches. On the other hand, when it is warmer, a granita or an ice lolly are excellent alternatives to simple water.

Natural Sant’Anna water , with its lightness and its excellent organoleptic properties , is ideal for keeping the body hydrated at any time of the day and during physical activity. In its one liter format, Acqua Sant’Anna is perfect to always keep on hand to take the right amount of liquids and avoid the annoying headache!
