Walkthrough of the Tower of Ramazith in Baldur’s Gate 3

Walkthrough of the Tower of Ramazith in Baldur’s Gate 3.How to get to the storage room of the Magic Supplies store, where to find the Annals of Karsus, how to fully read the Necromancy of Thay, found in the first act of the game

The Magic Supplies Shop, as cheesy as it may sound, is one of the most amazing magical places in Baldur’s Gate 3. You should definitely visit this structure in Baldur’s Gate to check out the selection of bookshop and library that houses some of the most powerful volumes and artifacts of this part of the Sword Coast.

Even better is to dive into the depths of this place, because truly powerful relics and books are kept in forbidden sections, hidden from the eyes of ordinary visitors. Deep beneath the Magical Supplies lies the Vault, a restricted area that can only be accessed by the most powerful wizards in Faerûn. If you want to get inside, you will have to be more creative and inventive.

There are two ways to get into the vault located under the Magic Supplies store. If your social skills of persuasion, intimidation, and so on are not so well developed, if you do not like or do not want to act secretly, you can try your hand at solving the “Towers of Ramazit” puzzle. To begin searching for the answer, you need to enter Lorroacan’s office and talk to him at least once. If you haven’t aggroed him yet (didn’t get to the point where you have to choose between him and the Song of Night, or befriended him after completing her quest), you can go to the northern part of the hall and look down through the railing.

Below there are several floating tables and bookshelves. Climb over the railing and jump on pieces of furniture until you reach the lower level. Carefully jump off the last flying object, avoiding the traps scattered on the ground. If there is one, send a rogue or character with high agility first to disarm all the mines, and then lower the rest of the group.

There are several “weaving buttons” here. To study the tablets in front of them, use the See the Invisible enchantment. If you can’t find the levers, check the chests to find a “Potion of Seeing the Invisible” The button you need to activate is on the southeast side of the dark part of the room. Activating it will take you to the Magic Supplies store vault.

How to get to the “Magic Supplies” storage room through Tolga’s office

An easier and more straightforward way to get into the Magic Supplies vault the first time is to continue completing the quest associated with Gale and Tolga. At Gale’s prompt, go to the back of the room on the first floor and talk to the bookseller named Tolga. You will find out about the books from the forbidden section, and if you successfully complete the check, you can convince her to tell you how to get into the storage room through her office. However, she will not provide any key, no hints, or permission to visit her office.

Go up to the second floor and enter the office on the left side. This is a closed area, so you can’t just enter here. Instead, you will have to act stealthily and try to break into the door while no one sees you. If you run into trouble, you can talk to Lorroacan’s doppelgänger at the top of the stairs. Do this with one of the characters in your party to distract the illusory clone while another character breaks down the door. An alternative option is to use invisibility. And don’t forget to close the door behind you!

Once in the office, look at the bookshelf next to the door. Check the books until you find the key to the chest in the basement of Magic Supplies. It will come in handy later. Then look at the right side of the bookshelf. You are interested in the third row. There is a lone book there, when interacting with it you will create a portal to the vault.

Doors of the Silver Hand, Elminster and Karsus

As soon as you find yourself in the Vault, having got there through the portal or the Ramazit Tower, you will find several chests on the sides. You can safely approach them on the transparent magical floor. If you can’t detect them, you may need a spell that detects invisible objects. My hero, as a result of an unsuccessful attempt at surgical intervention from Volo, received the passive skill “Seeing the Invisible.” However, be aware that there are also many traps in this place. I propose to split the squad and allow Astarion to disarm all the traps.

In the back room you will find the book “The Red Knight’s Last Stratagem”, which unlocks the scroll “Strategy Guide: The Art of War”: allows you to summon 6 master strategists. Each ghost strikes a target of your choice, dealing 8-18 points of force damage on hit.

Then, if you head to the opposite side, you will come to a room with three doors named after three powerful wizards: Silver Hand, Elminster and Karsus.

Door Silver Hand

Only the Silver Hand door will be open, while the other two will be locked. Go through the only unlocked door to reach a small room with traps. They can be disarmed manually or using a lever on the wall. Moreover, going through certain doors will allow you to enter other areas. In general, this place resembles a labyrinth.

The Door of Karsus: Annals of Karsus

Let’s figure out how to get the Annals of Karsus. This book is needed to complete Gale’s personal quest “The Wizard of Waterdeep.” To get it, go through the Silver Hand door, and then use the following correct openings:

  • Barrier – Leads to the next identical room with other doors and traps. There is a lever on the wall that turns off all the traps at once. Or neutralize them manually.
  • Silver – you will find yourself in a corridor that leads to traps and a lever near the Karsus sign. Interact with the lever to open Karsus’s door.
  • Wildness – Go back through the doorway to the main area and the Karsus door will open. Enter Karsus’ room and loot all the loot.

The Door of Karsus: Annals of Karsus

Loot in Karsus’s room:

  • Hammer “Enemy Breaker” – deals 3-13 damage; ignores resistance; +2 weapon enchantments; If you miss during an attack, you will still deal 1 unit of bludgeoning damage.
  • Scroll “Overthrow”. Pull the threads of the Weave to deal 30-80 necrotic damage.
  • “Annals of Karsus”, which contain secrets about magical artifacts. This is the main purpose of visiting Karsus’s office. So you will learn about three artifacts that give immeasurable power to the owner: the Crown, the Scepter and the Sphere of Karsus.

In addition, you can choose from three options. For example, the third one is “It’s better not to get ahead of yourself, the crown is still out of reach,” since it will be possible to get to this item much later.

Elminster Door: Tarchiate Codex

But that’s not all, because there is one last locked room left. Back in the main area, go through the Silver Hand door. Then move through the following doors:

  • Evocation – leads to the next identical room with other doors and traps. There is a lever on the wall that turns off all the traps at once. Or neutralize them manually.
  • Desire – you will find yourself in a corridor that leads to traps and a lever near the Elminster sign. Interact with the lever to open Elminster’s door.
  • Foresight – Go back through the doorway to the main area and the Elminster door will open. Enter Elminster’s room and loot all the loot.

By opening Elminster’s door, you can pick up the very rare Hat of Fire Swiftness. You will take fire damage when casting the corresponding spells, and the trade-off is an additional bonus action. There are also several scrolls in the room. Then examine the display case to find the “Tarchian Codex”.

How to remove the Tarchiate Withering curse?

After reading the codex, you will learn about unsurpassed magic that allows you to resurrect the dead. Unfortunately, the character who does this will receive a powerful debuff in the form of the Tarchiate Withering curse (reduces physique by 5 units). Luckily, you can cast a Remove Curse spell (or something similar) on this character to negate any negative effect. Thanks to this, you will receive a passive skill that will add +20 temporary health points until your next long rest.

Necromancy of Thay

Let’s start with how you can get this book. You are interested in the side quest “Inspect the Basement” from the first act of the game. In the village west of the Emerald Grove, go down into the Whispering Abyss in any convenient way (for example, through a well). While exploring the Whispering Abyss, closer to the phase spider habitat, look for a skeleton on the first floor. There is a student’s backpack nearby. Look inside and read the diary. It talks about some kind of amethyst and a key. In the same Whispering Abyss there is a huge matriarch spider. Underneath it, in the far corner, lies a dark (purple) amethyst.

And there are two options. You can fight your way there, but it is extremely difficult to defeat the constantly teleporting spider. Or you can use Astarion’s stealth by separating him from the squad (drag the icon) to steal the amethyst without a fight. Anyway, when you have the amethyst at your disposal, go to the center of the village. In the first building on the left behind the main entrance (opposite the blacksmith’s house), look for a wooden hatch in the floor. After going down, examine the basement, then find the lever behind the three wooden boxes. Pull it to open a secret passage. Move there and find a mirror. Save in advance. Introduce yourself, say that you are an ally of the owner. Call Shaas a villain. Balsam ointment is used to treat burns. Finally, in the mirror you want to find a remedy that will cure you of the parasite.

After passing the test, you will be taken to a secret laboratory. On the central table, examine the researcher’s notes. There is a grate on the left, and a room with a rusty key on the right. Using the key, you will be able to open the grille. Please note that there is a trap both in front of the grate and in the chamber with the book of necromancy. If you successfully read all the pages of the book, you will gain access to the “Talking with the Dead” skill.

In addition, if you found “Necromancy of Thay” in the first act, you will finally be able to read it. After passing a difficult wisdom check (20 units), the character will receive the Spooky Dance spell, which will allow you to summon six ghouls to fight on your side.

When you leave the vault and the Magic Supplies store itself, you will meet Elminster, who will tell you about the next stage of Gale’s personal quest. You need to visit Miistra at the beginning of the Lower City and learn about her plans.
