Looking to see what’s new in Episode 5: Act 3? The latest Act offers a new battle pass, the Ion collection, and a new Agent for all Valorant accounts.
Episode 5 Act 3 is now live on Valorant’s servers.
As of October 18, 2022, the latest season for Valorant has been released. The third (and final) Act in Episode 5 of ‘Dimensions hopes to pick up the pace from Episode 5: Act 2’s otherwise dull time in terms of content. Avid players of the free-to-play game know it hosts three Acts per episode, each featuring new in-game content and a separate battle pass. This generally includes limited-time game modes, weapon collections, Valorant skins, Agents, and maps. Riot Games usually releases New Agents every two or three Acts to add variety to the meta. Meanwhile, we can’t expect the same frequency regarding new game modes and maps since Riot tried to maintain a balance in the learning curve, especially for beginners.
Whether you’re late to the party for Valorant Episode 5: Act or looking for new weapon collections for your Valorant account, we will review all the changes made to Valorant below.
Harbor: The Newest Controller On the Block
Let’s start with a bang, shall we? Riot Games introduced a new Controller Agent they’ve been teasing for a long time. Hailing from India, Varun Batra, aka Harbor, joins the Valorant roster as a Controller. And yes, if you have a Valorant account, you’re free to play him immediately.
A known fugitive of Realm, he was betrayed by his colleague when he was accused of stealing a powerful artifact that lets him use the power of water. As a result, the organization is hunting for Harbor to obtain the said artifact and eliminate him. But as luck would have it, the Valorant Protocol managed to find Batra before Realm.
Harbor will join the likes of Viper, Astra, Brimstone, and Omen as the newest Controller Agent in Valorant. By commanding torrents and tides, Harbor can shield his teammates while being able to drown the opposing team by concussing them with geysers. Here’s a short description of each of his abilities:
- Reckoning: The ultimate ability of Harbor that lets him use the maximum power of his artifact. This lets him summon a geyser from the ground; Harbor will target enemy players in the area of the geyser pool with successive strikes. They’ll be concussed for a short period if caught within a strike.
- High Tide: An ability that lets Harbor summon a wall of water. Players can either send the water forward along the ground or guide it in the direction they want through their crosshair. They can also stop the water early. This spawns a wall along the water’s path. Opposing players hit by High Tide are slowed.
- Cascade: Harbor summons a wave of water that he can fire to send forward and through walls. Players can stop the wave midway as well. Enemies hit by Cascade are slowed.
- Cove: This ability lets Harbor equip a shield made of a water sphere. Players can throw it at an enemy or do an underhand throw. When it hits the ground, the sphere transforms into a water shield that can block bullets.
A New Battle Pass in Valorant
It’s not a new Act without a new battle pass to go along with it. As always, the latest battle pass will bring a 50-tier progression-based reward system that offers players free and premium options. The free battle pass lets players collect a limited number of radianite points, player cards, sprays, and weapon skins. But if you’re the type of person that wants more, the premium version of the battle pass will let you receive more benefits. While it’s more expensive since you have to spend 1,000 VP, you can unlock many exclusive rewards for the Act.
Premium battle pass owners can get skins such as:
- Valorant Starlit Odyssey Skinline
- Valorant Iridian Thorn Skinline
- Valorant Rune Stone Skinline
As for the players who aren’t keen on spending money, they’ll still receive a bunch of goodies if they decide to go with the free route of the battle pass:
- Can’t Break Me Buddy
- Corbin’s Light Buddy
- Starlit Odyssey Ghost with Variants
- ¡VAMOS! Title
- Astral Conduit Card
- Unearthed: The Mask Card
- Simple Instructions Spray
Valorant’s Episode 5: Act 3 battle pass is now available for purchase and will run until December 22, should everything go smoothly.
The Ion Collection Makes A Return
Besides the new battle pass and Agent, Riot Games has also announced the return of the Ion Collection, featuring skins for Ares, Frenzy, Vandal, Spectre, and a Karambit melee. If you’re looking for skins with a futuristic and clean vibe, this collection might be your best chance of making that wish come true. Should one look not be enough for you, you can upgrade to one of the three variants available—each having a color-specific finisher.
Not All Leaks Come True
It’s always best to take leaks with a grain of salt. Just a few days before the release of the new Act, informants hinted that there would be an upcoming game mode called Hurm. The said mode would feature a TDM (team deathmatch) format but with the ability of Agents enabled, and the first team to reach 100 kills will win the game.
Valorant Episode 5: Act 3 is already well underway, and Riot still hasn’t confirmed anything regarding Hurm. It just goes to show that not all leaks come true. But for players with Valorant accounts hoping for it, there’s still a fair chance it may show up in the middle of the latest Act.
