On this occasion we tested another of the most powerful portable speakers on the market, the Tronsmart Bang Mini comes to improve the portability of the normal model that we tested a while ago, this time with a system of 2 12W tweeters and 2 25W woofers . Its 360º surround sound system has SoundPulse technology , in addition to being able to pair with another TWS speaker. The rugged, RGB-integrated chassis is IPX6 rated, making it a great speaker for outdoors, pools, and barbecues.
We thank Tronsmart for their trust in us by sending us this speaker for review.
Tronsmart Bang Mini technical characteristics
Unboxing
The Tronsmart Bang Mini comes inside a robust rigid cardboard box with a blank vinyl-style finish, and like the rest of the brand’s products, images and specifications are shown on the external faces. Inside we have the best possible protection by placing the speaker between two polyethylene foam molds and in turn inside an insulating plastic bag.
The contents of the box will be quite simple:
- Tronsmart Bang MiniSpeaker
- Documentation
- cable with jack connector
- USB-C – USB-A charging cable
There is also no carrying case provided for this model, the manufacturer understands that its IPX6 chassis is already safe enough.
design and construction
The design base of the Tronsmart Bang Mini will be the same as the Tronsmart Bang model, but it is made a little smaller and less heavy , going from 3.1 kg to 2.4 kg, which is quite noticeable when transporting it. Its chassis in cylindrical format is quite robust, also certifying IPX6 protection, so it will resist splashes of water , but not immersion, let’s have this clear.
Part of a horizontal cylindrical format with a characteristic rigid handle integrated into the chassis itself, made of plastic. This grip system is integrated directly at its ends with the passive radiator membrane areas , beware, these are not the speakers. Ends that also integrate an RGB lighting ring with various light effects to liven up the environment.
The main body is based on a cylinder with a synthetic fabric cover that does not specify dust protection , but will be able to repel water droplets more or less effectively. The texture is made very pleasant to the touch and premium to the eye , with the detail of the Tronsmart sign on the main face, where the button panel is also located . Back and in the lower position we have the other port panel covered by waterproof rubber .
Finally, the lower or support part on the ground consists of 4 simple very small non-slip rubber feet glued on the plastic casing. This area has no opening, and therefore will prevent the entry of dirt or water.
Control panel and connections
We have seen that on the textile mesh that covers the Tronsmart Bang Mini we find the control area at the top. This time the surface has been modified compared to the previous models, being made of a slightly smoother rubber that does not pick up as much dirt and the functions are screen printed in white for better reading. In addition, the buttons increase in size as well as the battery and bluetooth indicators become more readable.
The control panel has the following functions:
- On/Off button
- 4 LED battery and charge indicators
- Bluetooth indicator LED
- Decrease volume and previous song
- Play / Pause
- Increase volume, next song
- Button to activate SoundPulse and equalizer with LED indicator
- Stereo pairing button with second unit
- Control RGB
Some of these buttons have multiple functions for direct configuration without the need for an app. For example, the Play button activates the voice assistant with 2 touches, picks up or hangs up the phone, disconnects bluetooth or resets the device by holding it down for 8 seconds.
The port panel will have the following interfaces:
- Puerto USB Type-A
- Jack Aux-In
- Micro SD/TF card slot
- USB-C for battery charging
With the power button we can select the sound playback source with a single touch: wireless mode, Micro SD card, USB memory or analog Jack . The USB-A port also provides automatic charging to 5V/1A connected devices. Keep in mind that the analog jack is for input and not output , so it cannot be used for headphones.
Features and benefits
This Tronsmart Bang Mini is basically a Bluetooth wireless technology speaker upgraded to 5.3 capable of providing true stereo sound (TWS). To do this, it uses a configuration of 4 speakers in total, 2 Tweeters of 12W each located on the main face of the cylinder, and another 2 Woofers of 25W each located just on the rear face . Its operating range will be from 65 Hz to 20,000 Hz , so it will not be able to reproduce the deepest frequencies, which, on the other hand, our ears would hardly notice.
This setup provides a 360º audio pattern around you, so it works great in meetings or placed in the center of a room . It has 3 passive radiators that keep the sound quality intact inside the enclosure without distortion or bottleneck effect. Two of them will be located at the ends where the RGB rings are, and another one is located between the two Tweeters.
Like the vast majority of Tronsmart speakers, it has SoundPulse technology, which provides clear output with bass boost and great sound quality. This profile can be activated directly from the front panel button , indicated by a white LED, and goes into normal mode when powered off. It doesn’t seem like it incorporates more equalizer profiles like the full-size model. Bass depth is always one of the outstanding features of Tronsmart speakers , and here they seem to be a little more balanced with the rest of the frequencies, probably because they have less power and a smaller resonance chamber.
The main Bluetooth 5.3 connection supports A2DP, AVRCP, HFP and HSP profiles , using an SBC decoding system . It ensures a coverage of 15 m , being in practice more distance if we are outdoors. We will be able to play our music autonomously thanks to the card reader , the USB port if we use a flash drive, or through another device with the Auxiliary Jack . The possibilities here will be just as wide as in the Tronsmart Bang model.
It does not have TuneConn technology being another of its limitations, but it does support TWS stereo pairing with a second speaker . Integrates NFC connectivity on the handle that allows a secure data path between it and the smartphone, as long as it is compatible. It has a microphone to use voice assistants such as Cortana, Siri or Google Assistant, among others, and the ability to receive or make hands-free calls.
Start-up, autonomy and user experience
The start-up is simple, we just have to turn on the speaker and pair the smartphone with it via bluetooth or NFC . The device automatically has the connections activated so that the smartphone detects it in just a few seconds .
On this occasion, the Tronsmart Bang Mini does not offer support for the Tronsmart application , at least so far, being a somewhat absurd limitation for a speaker that can be considered high-end for its price. We hope that this support will eventually arrive , as well as the possibility of managing equalization profiles.
The battery of this model will be 4,000 mAh according to the brand’s specifications, a significant decrease compared to the Tronsmart Bang that was 10,800 mAh. Even with this capacity, an autonomy of up to 15 hours is specified with the RGB system off and 13 hours with the LEDs on, although the brand leaves in the air at what volume and with what type of music.
In our personal experience listening to music from different genres at the same time with Sound Pulse on, RGB on, and volume at about 30%, we’ve seen a 40% battery drop in 5 hours straight. Doing the math we get around 12 hours on a full battery charge , a figure close to the promised one at least with an average volume to work with. Although it is true that with music where the bass intervenes more, the battery will drop more quickly , so it is difficult to make an average.
There are 30 voice levels that we have obtained by pressing its volume buttons, and the speaker begins to generate distortion at 24 presses with SoundPulse activated, that is, 75%. From there, if the music has a lot of bass, the quality and clarity will drop, in addition to being an extremely high volume that this speaker supports, perhaps too much we would say. But hey, if we have bought it for parties , then we will make use of its enormous power.
Staying at volumes from 30 to 60% we will obtain an outstanding sound experience, with a sound of enough depth without losing the presence of highs and mids for movies. It must be said that once again the bass takes on more prominence than the other tones , but it is a distinctive feature in Tronsmart. In addition, in this case we do not have equalizer profiles , so that minimal customization capacity vanishes.
In any case, the sensations are very similar to what the full-size model gave us . We could not say for sure how the two differ, perhaps in having slightly less pronounced bass as the woofers are less powerful, or perhaps it is just because the resonance chamber is smaller. Precisely this makes the frequency distortion appear relatively soon.
Final words and conclusion about the Tronsmart Bang Mini
The sound experience that this Tronsmart Bang Mini leaves us is not different from that experienced with the full-size model , and as we have mentioned, it is difficult to differentiate the possible nuances that there are. The predominance of bass is the general trend in Tronsmart speakers, making it perfect for parties . Its excessively high volume will distort the frequencies from 70-75% of its capacity, a little earlier than the larger model.
Once again the autonomy has been more than satisfactory , with around 12 hours with RGB activated and volume at 30%, a figure that is not bad at all. Connectivity is extremely complete, having up to 4 input channels to play audio , greatly expanding the options and versatility of the equipment.

There are also certain limitations or losses with respect to the larger Bang model, for example not having TuneConn , although it is anecdotal, but more importantly, not having control from the App and therefore no equalizer profiles to customize the audio output. In a high-end speaker like this it is not something that can be ignored.
The price of this Tronsmart Bang Mini will be between €84 and €100 depending on the store , always being cheaper on Aliexpress. The full-size model goes up to about €92-120, figures not that far apart. In the power and bass section we give it a high grade, with a comfortable to wear and robust design for outdoors, although cuts such as the equalizer should not be made.
