Game mechanics

The mechanics and gameplay of the game are not completely random. Everything here lends itself to logic. Losing, as always, is a natural way to learn something new. In Tomb of the Mask you will have a lot of failures, and since there are no control points in the game, you usually have to start from the very beginning. Don’t be in a hurry to despair. At the beginning of the game, you will fall into the second or third trap, then the tenth, then the twentieth. After a couple of hours, you will not notice how you fly through dozens of levels, bypassing all the threats on the way.
If you do not have a “diamond account”, then every defeat will be twice as painful, since the free version of the game is simply crammed with promotional videos. On the other hand, watching ads will bring its own benefits, giving you extra coins and chests.
Traps
Once you have learned the general scheme of the game, learn to avoid traps and enemies along the way. There are a lot of them, and each meeting can be fatal for the main character. In the early stages of the game, there are two types of traps – permanent and hidden:
- Permanent traps, as the name suggests, are easier to spot than hidden ones. An example is blades sticking out of a wall. You shouldn’t have much trouble getting around them. However, to feel completely safe, you need to know how each one works. Among the constant traps are rolling balls that mercilessly follow you on your heels, swelling traps that periodically increase in size, and patrolling enemies moving along a specific route.
- Hidden trapsare more difficult to detect as they are hidden until the researcher activates them. Contact with such a trap usually does not result in instant death. On the other hand, you have about one second to escape the tile before the trap is activated. Whenever you see a flickering part of a wall, know that there is a trap hidden there.
Each trap has a specific pattern of action that you will learn as you play.
Choosing between two game modes
Tomb of the Mask has two game modes – Level Mode and Arcade Mode. Each of them is fraught with different entertainments and challenges. You need to be aware in advance of what each of them is doing so that at the most inopportune moment you will not be faced with an ever-increasing level of difficulty, because of which you will leave the game.
- Level Modeis primarily intended for beginners. The difficulty level is much lower compared to arcade mode. It rises slowly and according to your progress. This is a great option for those who want to learn the basic mechanics and memorize specific trap patterns. Unlike arcade mode, you really don’t have a time limit for completing a level. Therefore, it is possible to carefully plan your actions.
- Arcade Modeis a real challenge even for those familiar with the game mechanics. The difficulty level is much higher and more demanding, not to mention the fact that your character is constantly pursued by the water rising from the lower levels. In this mode, you are limited in time to plan actions, so you have to do everything quickly in order not to drown in the water or avoid traps.
How to get more rewards
As soon as you complete a level in Level Mode or complete a mission, you will receive a reward. Sometimes it is a certain number of coins or a chest in which a random item is hidden.
Coins are the main in-game currency that can be spent in the in-game store for a number of features, including new masks, power-ups, and chest sets with even more coins. Coins can also be purchased with real money.
A random reward is hidden inside the chests, which can be obtained by turning the wheel of fortune. You can win a variety of things, including handfuls of coins (different sizes), special hero skins (robot mask), and boosters.
When exploring dungeons in Level Mode, make sure to collect as many coins as possible, as there is no time limit for you. In arcade mode, chances are you will have to walk past some coins to survive, or take one of two paths.
You can get free coins and chests by watching promotional videos. From time to time, when you are short on money, it is definitely worth doing. Everything you get during your adventure will help you in the game. Therefore, you do not need to store coins for too long: it is much better to spend them on some kind of boost or booster.
What to buy in the store?
The in-game store plays an important role in the character’s adventures. Here you can purchase many different items and features, including masks, boosters, and coin sets.
Masks are best described as “skins” that provide your character with many different enhancements. There are masks that increase the maximum number of coins that you find in the levels. For example, “Mask of the Knight”. There are masks that increase the effectiveness of amplifiers. Some of the masks you unlock later in the game, including Voodoo and Skull, improve both aspects at the same time. There are masks available only for premium players (who bought the “diamond account”). However, premium masks can only be purchased with real money.
In addition to masks, the store has a set of boosters that significantly increase the chances of survival and increase the number of coins found. There are amplifiers that freeze traps and enemies, give shields that make the character invulnerable, magnets that allow you to attract nearby objects, and many others.

Upgrade and replenish your boosters
Boosters are special items that will help you as you progress through dungeons. Some of them are activated by double tapping (tap) on the smartphone screen, others must be found in a certain part of the level. In the in-game store, you can upgrade and replenish amplifiers by spending a few coins. This will greatly simplify the gameplay, but do not forget that the game can still be completed without spending coins for amplifiers.
There are two different types of amplifiers in Tomb of the Mask: active and collectible. Among the active perks, the shield stands out. As the name suggests, it provides you with a protective barrier that makes the character invulnerable when exposed to traps and opponents that you stumble upon. After double-tapping the screen, your hero will receive a temporary barrier that can withstand any physical damage. This booster has a limited number of activations, but you can refill the number of charges in the in-game store for 200 coins. At the beginning of the game, the amount seems to be quite large, especially if you do not want to replenish your supply of coins by watching promotional videos. That is why we do not recommend spending charges of the “Shield” during the passage of levels in Level Mode. Better save them for arcade mode, where the gameplay is significantly accelerated and the probability of error increases.
Collected amplifiers are bonuses that can be found inside the labyrinth. Mostly they come across in arcade mode. These are temporary improvements that increase the amount of coins and points collected. Some of them can be more tactical (for example, they freeze opponents or traps). They can be upgraded to level ten. Each new level increases the capabilities of a particular amplifier. Also, with each new level, the cost of the improvement doubles, so save money in advance.
This is not to say that this or that amplifier should be improved first of all, since the collected bonuses appear randomly in arcade mode. Thus, you cannot predict which one you will receive during your run. However, the most useful amplifiers can be distinguished.
We are talking about “Shield”, “Freeze” and “Magnet”. As mentioned earlier, you cannot upgrade the Shield, but you can and even need to replenish its charges. If you are going to start arcade mode, it would be nice to have two or three charges for the “Shield” with you. Freeze is also extremely useful, especially if there are many enemies and traps around you and there is no time for more careful planning of actions. Upgrade your amplifiers regularly. Magnet is very effective in arcade mode. You will not be physically able to collect every point and coin during the race, as the path is divided into several separate routes. And the “Magnet” is the best way to solve this problem, because it will attract all objects located nearby to you.
Be patient
The mechanics of Tomb of the Mask are very intuitive and basically all you have to do to be successful is constantly playing. The more you play the arcade, the more experienced you become. Over time, you, without realizing it, will learn to avoid enemies and obstacles literally “on the machine.”
Leveling up is a natural progression process in any game. To get a new rank, you will need to collect a certain amount of experience points. Once you achieve this, you will receive a pleasant reward. During Level Mode, there is a chance to collect stars (and preferably 3/3), which will maximize the accumulated experience. And in this game mode it is quite possible to do it.

- Coins are best spent on recharging the shield.
- To get coins, watch videos, complete levels and spin the wheel of fortune.
- No need to spend coins on revival. There are much more valuable things.
- Shield is best spent on arcade mode.
- Don’t try to collect all the coins and points in the level. This is physically impossible. It is not worth taking the risk and picking up a coin lying next to the enemy.
- From time to time, a luminous frame with a star appears on the side of the screen. If you want to score a lot of points, then be sure to get to her. After passing through the star, you will find yourself in a bonus room filled with coins. It is much easier to navigate here than on normal levels.
