Believers will see the face of Allah in heaven.
Seeing the face of Allah Ta’ala in Paradise is the greatest blessing a believer will ever receive. Believers will see the face of Allah Ta’ala in the afterlife, seeing it directly with their own eyes, just as they see the full moon or the sun on a clear day without any clouds.
This creed is based on evidence from the Qur’an, hadiths from the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) , and the consensus of the Ahlus Sunnah scholars. Those who deny and disbelieve this are only sects that deviate from the creed of Ahlus Sunnah wal Jama’ah.
Evidence from the Qur’an
Allah Ta’ala has stated,
“The faces (of the believers) on that day were radiant. To their Lord they looked.” (QS. Al-Qiyamah [75]: 22-23)
This means that the face of a believer will appear bright, radiant, or radiant because they see the face of Allah Ta’ala directly. This is because in Arabic, the word نظر, when combined with إلي, as in the verse above, means “seeing with one’s own eyes.”
This is also as Allah Ta’ala says,
God willing
“Do they not then look at the camel, how it is created? And at the sky, how it is raised high?” (QS. Al-Ghasyiyah [88]: 17-18)
That is, didn’t they see directly these amazing creatures, which show the power of Allah Ta’ala ? In another verse, Allah Ta’ala believes,
“For those who do good is the best reward (heaven) and more.” (QS. Yunus [10]: 26)
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) explained that the best reward is Paradise, while the additional reward is seeing the face of Allah Ta’ala.
Allah Ta’ala says,
“They get what they want in it, and on our side there is something extra.” (QS. Qaaf [50]: 35)
What is meant by مزيد (addition) in this verse is seeing the face of Allah Ta’ala.
Evidence from the Sunnah
The evidence from the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) is so numerous that it has reached the level of mutawatir. Among them is the hadith of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him):
God bless you God willing
“Indeed, you will see your Lord (on the Day of Resurrection) as you see this moon (full moon). You will not be jostled when you see Him.” (Narrated by Bukhari no. 554, 573, 4851, 7434 and Muslim no. 633)
“In another hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam described seeing the face of Allah Ta’ala as we see a clear and bright sun without being covered by clouds.” (HR. Bukhari no. 806, 6573, 7437 and Muslim no. 182)
The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam also stated firmly,
“You will see your Lord directly (with your own eyes).” (HR. Bukhari no. 7435)
The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) explained that when believers see the face of Allah , the Exalted, they do not need to queue and jostle. Everyone can gaze upon the face of Allah , the Exalted , from their respective places without crowding, just as they gaze upon the sun and moon. We can see for ourselves that when we look at something as lofty as the sun and moon, we do not need to crowd.
It is worth noting that in this hadith, the Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam did not liken Allah Ta’ala to His creatures (the sun and the moon). What the Prophet equated was “kaifiyyah”, namely how to “view” Allah Ta’ala on the Day of Judgment. The Prophet sallallaahu ‘alaihi wa sallam did not equate the “object seen” in this case Allah Ta’ala with the sun and moon. This is because Allah Ta’ala is the Almighty Essence, who is not similar or similar to any of His creatures.
